Online Chinese censorship, once again! (If anybody is interested
. Maybe Marmolada?)
By: Aliph Date: December 6, 2018, 3:39 am

In China, the App WeChat is very popular. 800 million people
use it for sending messages, transferring money, ordering a
taxi, reading the news.
However politics are banned in the heaven of the communist party
(with Chinese sauce).
A research group of the University of Toronto, has analyzed how
censorship works on WeChat.
Usually single words aren’t banned but cluster of words.
Naturally without telling the person that his message was
deleted.
You can read the whole list on the article.

Here some words censored
From the Jasmine Revolution (Tunisia 2011) to the Süddeutsche
Zeitung+ irony, organ harvesting, Amnesty international, die
Deutsche Welle and the neologism Xitler

Well, considering the google results for "live organ harvesting
china", censorship is a comparatively minuscule problem. (No,
you don't need to tell me that committing these atrocities on
such a scale would be a lot harder if they didn't have such a
well-honed censoring system.)
If you feel like instantly ruining your day/mood:

Thanks Alharacas. I will read that later. I already know what is
going on in the Sinai Peninsula and Egypt regarding this matter,
I will not ruin my day. But thanks for sharing.

It's awful. Our current president is very pro-Chinese, he
believes that we should form a strong bond with China. People
criticise him for never bringing up topics such as human rights
violation. When the Chinese president came to visit the Czech
Republic, the police were trying to stop people from putting up
Tibetan flags and even some Chinese tourists were seen wrestling
people to take their Tibetan flag away from them. It felt like
we'd gone back to the 70s.

Do you think it would matter, Nikola? I think I remember several
German chancellors doing that, and what use has it been? It
would have to be a concerted action by all the democratic
countries, with putting a lot of pressure on, and even then...
What would we do without all those wonderful computers nobody's
making anymore in Europe or the US? Plus, there'd still be a
whole lot of world left for China to export their goods to, even
if all the democratically elected governments were able to stop
importing anything from China. - Great. I'm getting ever more
depressed here.

Alharacas, you're right, we can object as much as we want but as
long as we keep buying their products, nothing's going to
change. Although I still think that saying something is better
than saying nothing and being obsequious.

It’s too depressing. If one has the feeling that he can do
nothing against injustice he just looses any hope.
I red the article about China, reminds me how asylum seekers
from Africa are “harvested” by traffickers in Egypt and how poor
people sell their organs in Egypt and Iraq.
How can a doctor who theoretically subscribed to the Hippocratic
oath do something like that? But from former Nazi doctor
Mengele, to Milosevic until the unnamed Saudi forensic medic who
helped to chop up Kashoggi in Istanbul, studying medicine is no
garantee to become a better person.
Oh gee! Let’s write about cooking.

That is a truly horrifying story.
But, my theory is this. Everyone wants to call China a
„communist country“ or whatever, but is it really? Where`s the
free healthcare (there isn`t any)? Where are the social
benefits? (There are none). Are there mega-rich people in China?
Oh yes! Plenty. Why are they producing all our electronics over
there and other goods? Ah, because they are ultra-capitalists
under a totalitarian capitalist extremist regime.
Now, why do you suppose they are harvesting organs (through this
barbarism)? The only answer that comes to mind is free market
capitalism. Where are all these organs going? To whom are they
being sold? They are being sold off to super-rich people who
need them to survive for whom money is no object. Sort of makes
sense doesn`t it? The organs sure as h*ll aren`t going to the
poor are they?
This is capitalism at it ugliest. Take that Neal!
(See how good of a commentator I am? I should write for Die
Bild-Zeitung, right Alharacas! NOW; I just had a brainstorm.
This is how I can get my Aufenthaltsgenehmigung (residency
permit) for Germany! Write for Die Bild).

Steven, you'd be hard put to come up with stuff as stupid as Was
macht Merkel ab heute Abend? I just checked today's headline:
What's Merkel gonna do from tonight? - Background: Merkel's
party, the CDU, is going to elect a new chairperson today.
Answer: Er... same as usual? After all, she will remain the
Chancellor of Germany until 2021, won't she? (If the coalition
holds up that long, that is.)

Oh Alharacas, I like Die Bild. It`s kind of fun to read. They
are a bit niveaulos, I will admit. I like the BIG headlines and
huge pages. I wonder what I could do to get then to hire me as a
commentator??? They can tell the authorities, „we can`t find
anyone with a mind like his in the entire EU to fill his shoes,
therefore give him an Aufenthaltsgenehmigung. We need him on our
staff to keep up our fine reputation.“
Next Summer when I visit my friend Uli and her husband Hans, I
think I`m going to come down stairs in the morning for coffee
and open up Die Bild in front of her while she`s reading her
Heilkräuter books. (She`s tired of practicing law and took her
exams in October to become a Heilpraktikerin, but she said she
has to wait for her oral exams later.) She and Hans never have
Die Bild-Zeitung in their house for some reason. I bet if I
opened up Die Bild, and spread it across her kitchen table she`d
give me a funny look and say, „STEVE!“ Then probably shake her
head.
