       Brigadeiros - Alice, please?
By: Alharacas Date: December 1, 2018, 5:17 am

I've just had a look at recipes for making Brigadeiros (as per
your post on Neal's birthday thread, Alice). They sound quite
nice, and pretty easy to make (except for the rolling part -
sigh! Why are there so many recipes requiring you to scoop out
bits of dough and rolling them between your hands? I always end
       up feeling sticky all over.).
What I wonder is whether you think they might be a little too
sweet for Europeans? (I remember you writing somewhere that you
now often found traditional Brazilian food stuffs "too salty" or
"too sweet", that's what made me ask.)

A little long (and the ladies eating the condensed milk right
out of the can made me cringe) but an interesting video. For
Steven the Portuguese market they mention is in the Mission
       district of San Francisco.
Plenty of chocolate, how can you go wrong?

Follow this one, it's shorter and they have some variations (we
       call those "brigadeiro gourmet").

I need to make clear that the coconut one is NOT a brigadeiro,
but a "beijinho", which is another traditional Birthday sweet
       (and one my favourites).
It's definitely easy to make and rolling them is the most
complicated part. You can grease your hands beforehand...
Or, if it's not for a party or anything, you can eat just the
way it is. We call it "brigadeiro de colher".

Actually, they can be served to too (I don't like rolling
brigadeiros, so when I have to prepare them, I cheat)

They are quite sweet, but they are pretty small. If you're an
adult (and not me) one or two may be enough for you.
We have a high tolerance to sugar. As Neal pointed out, we can
eat condensed milk from the tin
My Birthday is coming too and even though I've been away from
some time, it's always good when I get to eat those

Thank you very much, Alice and Neal!
I've found I'd like them to contain egg yolk, but really can't
figure out when and how to mix those in. Wouldn't they curdle in
an instant? The online recipes blithely tell you to just mix
them in with everything else. Hmm...
