OK, Ok, so what do you think about Kavanaugh?
By: NealC Date: September 28, 2018, 7:07 pm

Sofia says her husband is captivated by what is going on in
Washington, so I guess the world is tuning in. So what do you
all think about the situation? Just to get the juices flowing,
I will give you my first impression:
2 drunk teenagers leave the party and head for an upstairs
bedroom.
A half hour later they emerge. At least half the time the
female looks upset.
People will gossip in the hallways on monday. Things will be
blown all out of proportion.
That was pretty much a regular Saturday night at my High School
Questions:
You're 15, what the hell are you doing there?
Maybe your parents were right?
Why did you go in the bedroom, did you think he was going to
show you his stamp collection?
This really affected your life as much as you say? Really?
Why are you tapping your ear so much during questioning by the
senate? Are you getting coached by earpiece?
That should get things moving.

NealC, for some reason my husband also seems to have been
captivated by this story and I have not been able to bring
myself to care about it. My husband´s opinion is much like
yours, ¨boys will be boys¨ kind of thinking. He feels nothing
that has been brought out is so disgraceful that he should be
seen as someone unfit for the job. He assumes his behavior and
judgement after age 25 (the age when adult impulse control is
usually in place) is not the same as what happened in his youth.
Personally, the politics of this just sickens me. The democrats
wanting to drag this out until after the mid-term elections and
the republicans desperate to get the person on the Supreme Court
who might be more conservative. The whole things just makes me
NOT want to watch. It is terribly suspicious the way these ¨me
toos¨ come out right at this particular time. You know I work
with rape, sexual abuse and sexual assault all the time so I am
generally sympathetic and understanding that these thing could
possibly be true and the women involved at the time just were
too ashamed to talk about it. Unfortunately, too much time has
gone by and the appearance that this stuff is being brought out
just for political purposes is just disturbing to me.
Is anyone so optimistic as to think that the behavior of our
current teenage boys is going to be changed much by the changing
standards of our times? Are they really going to stop and
think-- hmmm-- better behave, I might want to be a judge or a
politician someday?

I have a lot to say about this but I'll only state a few things
most obvious to me. 1. This woman is disturbed in the head over
something. This is all a lie. She dreamed it up over the years
in order to be a VICTIM. Liberals worship victimhood and
abortion.
2. If enough rocks are turned over you will discover a fetid
smell. That smell is the hideous and odiferous George Soros
funding this episode of the Twilight Zone. This is nothing more
than a game to the Libs to stall the process in hopes of winning
the House and denying DJT his picks for the court. That's clear
to even the most casual of observers. These Libs are wretched,
soulless individuals. You'd have to be to destroy someone's life
with no regard for anything but your craven lust for power.
And by the way, did anyone else notice how she seemed to talk as
if she had no clue about anything except the fantasy about
Kavanaugh? She talks like someone with a low IQ. I looked for
her to suck her thumb and ask for her blankie at any moment.
It's a shame that the Senators and this woman can't be held
criminally and civilly liable for the lies and slander they've
subjected this man to.

As seen from a distance of several thousand miles, it sometimes
does appear to be a kind of national hobby:

It's also dirty politics by another means.

My favorite stand-up comics is Doug Stanhope (for Jerry and
Neal, you might find him amusing. You can see him on YouTube
clips). He`s got a very „dark“ form of humor. I think he`s
witty, smart and a very talented guy. (I`ve heard him compared
to a George Carlin. )I don`t recommend him to people outside the
US, probably because it`s an American style of humor he presents
that most people outside the US, except for maybe Canada,
probably can`t relate to. He`s always on stage with a drink in
his hand, he`s a little vulgar in his presentation and I`d say
he`s sort an acquired taste. He is one of those types you either
really, really like or can`t stand.
He almost never mentions politics, and that`s because he
doesn’t have much interest in the subject. He says he never
votes and the reason is that, in his entire life, it`s never
made even the slightest difference who was in the White House,
who was on the Supreme Court, or who was doing what.
I had to laugh because I`ve noticed exactly the same thing over
the last 5 decades. It might surprise people but I really
pretty much ignore US news. I just never listen to it. I never
watch US TV. I get my news from the little you can`t avoid on
the internet everytime you switch it on, and I follow European
policies by watching German news on my ZDF App, and I watch
German language films and that’s about it. ZDF had a 3 minute
clip last night on about Kavanaugh, but it was just US politics
as usual.
I may be physically here, but I`m not engaged or particularly
interested in anything going on in the US. The only two US TV
series I ever watch (because they are the only ones I like) are
Better Call Saul, and Narcos, and then I use a site where I can
watch them in their German dubbed versions.
So, as to this whole Kavanaugh thing, I frankly haven’t been
paying any attention.

I decided just to tack this on here instead of starting a new
thread.
I think this Kavanaugh thing is getting way too much media
attention. I just saw this headline about the trade deals.
HTML https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2018/10/01/winners-losers-usmca-trade-deal/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.a7b29f0c8a43<br
/> I hadn´t heard hardly a peep about trade deals in recent days
and suddenly there is a deal made replacing NAFTA.
Which really has more long-term importance for the U.S. and the
world? Especially if as this article says this deal is Trump´s
¨play book¨ for a future deal with China. The priorities of
our press seem way out of whack. They really do not seem to care
about economic news.

I haven't seen the details of the new Nafta, hopefully it is an
improvement.
Say what you want about Trump as a human being, getting these
deals done properly will have a wonderful effect going forward.
And they are what I have heard him harping on since the 80's.

This is a good piece on Kavanaugh:

And this was a good earlier article I read:

Spectacular, Steve. Look at the title of the first piece. The
point of the writer is the abolition of the Supreme Court and
probably the entire Constitution.
"Believe the Survivors". Are we now going to ascribe guilt
simply by accusation? Because a woman said a white male did it
should we throw them in jail? We know all white males are guilt
of something. Are we at the Salem witch trials again?
The people you hang out with are not your friends.
