Nope. Not true. I said I wanted a separate forum for photos,
videos and memes. And I still think the idea of a thread for
memes sucks. It just goes against the principal of memeing which
is to allow people write their comments under the meme.
I think the current categorization of the board is not efficient
at all. We have too many forums. Many of them have been inactive
for months.

I don't think it's a problem of space - people here don't seem
to be into the meme, ahem, culture. Photos and videos made by
the users? Not very likely but we can always give it a shot if
others think there is a chance they will use it.
About the categories - this can be reviewed. The language
learning section is pretty much dead - it could be reduced. I
wouldn't delete it entirely however.

Oh please no “what is your favorite book, song” with no text and
just a link. About the language section, we do not have people
interested in correcting texts, so nobody writes any notebook
entry.

Well, I'm sure Natalia would've been very interested in having a
section for photos and videos. Also, I think we need to have a
thread like Guide for Users, FAQ or something like that that
gives clear instructions for users to use the features of EGP. I
remember somebody earlier asked about how they could upload a
photo on EGP.
I think having just one section for Language Exchange should be
enough. I also think that some users like Dan left here because
they were interested in logical puzzles, brain teasers and
science-related stuff but nobody showed interest in those
topics.
The main problem with here is that some people are too
conservative in expressing themselves and their opinions. This
is clearly not a language barrier. Rather a mentality, I would
say.

Yeah, and even if we had people interested in that, with so
limited a number of users it would get embarrassing after some
time - I mean how long can you ask the same person a favor that
you can't return.

Maybe, but we can't even upload anything anymore. This seems to
be a serious obstacle. And we have a kind of a FACK

they are not interested in/don't want to comment on for whatever

Thanks for admiring my courage and inner strength.
But, as you see, look at NealC`s behavior, saying I can`t hold a
logical argument or hold a plastic King in check (whatever that
means)? What´s a plastic King? Strange phrases.
BUT, I was going to say, you know, I never listen to US news, or
American politics or all those borning YouTube people talking
endlessly about US politics. I can`t stand that stuff. I get
all my news from my German ZDF App, that I think broadcasts out
of Mainz. And, even though there are discussions of just
internal European politics, the US and Trump always ends up in
some way having to get weaved into the discussion. Even on
German news. You talk about tariffs, NATO, Putin, the Middle
East, just about anything, and all you hear is the US this and
the US that and about Trump. Trump is such an egomaniac and
narcissist he loves all the attention he gets. He craves seeing
stories about himself and seeing his picture everywhere. That`s
why he tweets every day. I wish we could just ignore him but we
can`t if we get into politics in any depth. And we have to hear
about his “wall” he`s building all the time (as if we needed it,
what a joke). So, I´d suggest we talk about something
interesting, like socialism, socialist theory. The history of
socialism. Stuff like that, and just ignore Trump and hope the
world survives another 2 and a half years until he`s voted out
of office (which he will be, no question about that and then
this nightmare will be over, or at least mitigated).

And thank goodness there`s no language exchange requests! “Teach
me English and I`ll teach you Urdu.” Gag. No thanks. And the
secret date hunters (“Only pretty young women need answer this
please...”)
Then there are the grammar police (like Phil, “you have to put
an “apostrophe here and not there according to Webster....and
don`t forget the rule on splitting infinitives and phrasal
nouns..” (I don`t even know what those things are half the
time). And then there are the dummies who don`t even know
English and say, “Ain`t is a very good contraction to use in
everyday language.” Oh, please.
So, yeah what passes off as okay chat on italki is not what we
want here.
