I must say that the ratio between American posters and posters
from other countries is unbalanced.
So in my opinion there is too much US politics. The only
advantage is that the posts are written by anglophones.
Nothing against politics. But we could talk about other issues.
For instance the situation in Ukraine, in Venezuela, water
shortage in Iran, post-Fukushima Japan, the problems of the Roma
in Europe.
So I would like to hear a little more from Pasha, Martin,
Alharacas...
Where are Chizuko, Coligno, Allie? Gone forever?
Dan is posting on Italki.

Well, I have no power over this. We could think how we could
lure those undoubtedly interesting people back here but what I
would want to know is if you need me to do something that I
don't do now as an administrator (or if you need Alharacas to
moderate more).

Nope! I am against banning anybody. But others should be more

King, of course they shouldn`t ban me! Who`d keep NealC and
Jerry in check? You wouldn`t want their right-wing extremist
Republican ramblings to go on indefinitely, unchallenged would
you?
But, yes, let´s talk about world politics and how the US is
messing everything up and meddling in everyone else`s affairs.
Because it is. That´s its history. What an embarrassment.
And I was watching German news on my ZDF app last night and they
covered this clash between right wing extremists and those on
the left in Portland, during a street demonstration, and how the
police couldn`t control them and it looked like chaos. It
frankly looked like the Weimarer Republik in 1928 or something.
Scary stuff. Thanks Trump. See how bad the US is becoming?

I once suggested to Gryzbek to have a photo/video section that
members can share photos of themselves, their favorite places,
the things they like and maybe even some funny memes. This is a
feature that italki does not have. If we want people to prefer
EGP to italki, we should give them options that they do not have
on italki. She didn't listen to me. I think we need a section
that allows more international communication and cultural
exchange. Since discussing politics here is allowed, I think we
need a separate section for news and recent ongoing events in
the world.

Alharacas is doing a fantastic job, because she not doing
anything! So kudos to her! She believes in 1) freedom of
expression, and 2) she`s fantastic because she´s German (so she
gets bonus points for that).
Wie der Herr, so`s Gescherr. Like the tree is, so is the fruit,
or like master like man. Not common English idioms but you get
the picture (that`s very Southern German or Austrian, isn`t it
Alharacas? I`ve only heard that in like München or that area. I
don`t think I ever heard that in Friedland).

You agree with me, I think, that we need interesting
conversation, not italki-like dating advice (which is what they
do. They think they’ve got a Tinder going on over there). All
I´m saying is NealC and Jerry are the ones to keep an eye on.
They`ll tell you how everything is great in the US and there`s
no global warming, but you guys are feeling it now with those
high temperatures and know that what NealC and Jerry are saying
is just right-wing American propaganda, generated by the current
government.

And I also bit your... head and you woke up screaming. You
wanted a whole board for memes, if I remember correctly. So I
made a thread for memes which is, how shall I put it, not very
popular.
But I like the idea of a board "for news and recent ongoing
events in the world". We could do that. We sure have enough
material for a whole board about the US internal and
international affairs. I just don't have the brainpower to cut
out and paste it.

Yes, King. We need a world current events section. But, the US
is such a nasty big bully it would be hard not mentioning its
involvement in it, if you talk politics. Otherwise you`d have to
leave politics out.
