Kafka

Spring makes me feel sleepy. Once I sleep, getting out of the
bed is very hard.
Yesterday, it was 7:00 am when I woke up and I wanted to be in
this warm comfortable bed more. It was 10:00 am when I woke up
again and felt a little backache. I thought I slept too much and
suddenly his name, ”Zamsa".came up with my mind.
One day he found he became a big scary worm in the bed when he
woke up. He has many legs and can’t move smoothly. He was an
ordinary, modesty and good person but suddenly his life changed
to a nightmare after waking up.
When I read this novel, “The Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka. for
the first time, I didn’t get the meaning of the story. I just
laughed at comical describing that he fall down from the bed,
and he can’t touch his back with his hand which changed to many
legs, and some legs disturb when he tries to eat something.
Some reviews say this novel is pessimistic and Franz Kafka wrote
about the unpredictable event which people can’t avoid or handle
with. I agree. There is a thoughtful meaning of human being and
life
But still, I can’t stop feeling his humors in this story.
I’d like to say that humors can be a tool for decreasing your
pain.

Chizuko, did you read it in English? If so, hats off to you -
admirable. And it's good if you found some bits in it that made
you laugh. I thought Gregor Samsa's loneliness was very hard to
bear.
