Re: How long do you think this Covid 19 pandemic will last?

I've been to the more inhabited part of Hawaii and let me tell
you, Pasha, you wouldn't like it. I remember you don't like
insects. They have these giant cockroaches hanging around
outside the big fancy hotels, looking for something (possibly
someone) to eat.

@SHL It seems to me that Hawaii isn't unlike a lot of those
small central and eastern European countries. It's dirty, wild
animals running amok, old, broken-down cars clogging the roads,
high illiteracy rates, the list goes on. Up until about 2000 it
was a nice place to visit.
A few years ago some clowns set off an alarm that indicated that
the state was under attack by an incoming North Korean missile.
It wasn't, of course. While in the awful central European
countries all you have to worry about is actual warfare [ Let's
not forget that the history of Europe is warfare. They're a very
violent people who can't get along with their neighbors. ] and
communism, socialism, and the failed 'free' medical system. All
in all not a good place to be. You're better off vacationing in
Hawaii until you can take refuge in Germany.

I guess those chickens don’t bother anyone, except for the
Roosters, the males, who will come after you if you get too
close to their females.
Wait, they will stand and fight you? I thought if you get too
close to chicken they will chicken out.
Pasha. No those big roosters, the breeding males, with those red
things on their heads, will go after you and try to bite you or
attack you with their claws. The female hens don’t do anything.
The just run away with their babies. My mom said growing up they
had to go out and collect the eggs every morning the hens laid,
but the rooster would always come and try to attack them. So,
they had to grab the eggs and run in the house. I think she said
my grandfather got tired of that nasty rooster one day and they
had him for dinner one night. :)

See, even the inhabited parts of Hawaii aren‘t that great. No, I
don’t have any interest in Hawaii. No thanks, not going back.
I will say, the only thing Hawaii‘s got going for it is they
have a nice State Flag. I like the British Union Jack in there.
Reminds me of our British heritage.

Well, Sid, I can’t compare Hawaii to central or Eastern Europe.
That would be an insult to central or Eastern Europe. As far as
vacationing in Hawaii, I found out I’d have to take a Covid test
on arrival in Hawaii, then quarantine for 2 weeks. All to go
live with a bunch of chickens. Not very appealing.

@SHL let things settle down. The weather here is awfully hot
right now and as you know we don’t have AC in this part of the
world. So you better plan your vacation for next winter. Have
you ever been in Germany in December? All over Central Europe
there are nice Christmas markets and there is a special
atmosphere. I quite love it.
As for Hawaii, I never have been there, but my sister went
hiking and camping, walking along the seashore of the islands
and she liked it. She is the outdoor type and hiked in the most
incredible places, all over the world. Personally, I only got
interested in Hawaii when I read that Obama’s mother came from
there.

I‘m not sure Obama‘s mother came from Hawaii (it’s possible, I
just heard he was born there). And, it is true. Hawaii is really
more for the outdoors type people who like to explore nature.
Yes, last night was the first time I heard that the Summer heat
was finally hitting Europe. I even saw a few temperatures around
Germany in the 33C range, which is how I remember Germany in the
Summers from 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. But, this year seemed a
lot cooler than I expected. It’s only now that things are
hearing up. Yet, I returned to the States on August 2 of 2019,
and it was hot then too. But, the entire month of July was
pretty miserable, heat-wise. We’ve got the same temperatures in
the Summer only with dry heat, not that that matters, since it’s
all bad past a certain point. But, we’re more prepared for it,
so every house and apartment built after about the late 1960s
has A/C. San Francisco might be an exception because it never
gets much over 25C over there. I couldn’t imagine living without
it. It would be no different than having no heat on the Winter.
I had thought about vacationing in Germany in the Winter, just
to experience the change in seasons, and would love to, but with
this corona thing, it’s hard to say when that will ever be
possible. I read about some Germans protesting in Berlin about
wearing masks and claiming corona was all a hoax and fake.
Conspiracy theorists. People thinking like that are likely to
cause a rebound of the pandemic in Europe.
