Head of State

If you live in a country that has a president, can you imagine
having a king/queen instead and vice versa?

India would still have ruled by Kings/Queens if British would
not come here. After the independence of India, the constitution
of India was written by incorporating the idea present in the
constitutions of different countries around the world especially
from the US and the UK. The constitution of the UK influenced it
to a great extent, but instead of going for a King/Queen
position in the cabinet, they went for a Presidential position.
But they didn't give the absolute authority to the president
unlike the US. Here, the Prime Minister and his cabinet
ministers are mostly responsible for the governance of the
nation.
So, thinking about a king instead of a president might not be a
great deal for Indians as India had been ruled by Kings and
queens for centuries. However, the young generation might not
accept this dynasty system! 🤔

Thanks Sunshine. It's interesting to see what someone thinks in
another country that was part of an empire before gaining
independence. Here, some people find the idea of having a
monarch outdated but there's a political party whose objective
is the restoration of Czech monarchy. They started off as a
political movement in 1990 and have been active since.

There’s a certain elegance to having a monarchy, such as in the
UK, a benevolent monarchy. But, no one in the modern world takes
any of it seriously. In other words, you have a powerless
non-political monarchy. I suppose you could criticize the
economic cost of maintaining it, but other than that, I doubt
anyone would care.
The US is too young of a country for anything along the lines of
a monarchy. I think such can only function in a country with a
long history. Many people live in homes in Europe far older than
than US. My German friend‘s barn was built before the US even
became a country.
An interesting statistic about US revolutionary history: 25% of
the population back then were opposed to it and loyal to
Britain, 25% were in favor of independence, and 50% were
completely indifferent.

Elegance is probably a good word to describe it. It is a bit
like owning a nice set of antique plates, ones that can't go in
the dishwasher. Some people would just roll their eyes, others
would find it charming.
What's harder to witness, though? Elegance without power or
power without elegance? ;)

Good analogy. That’s about the best you can say about a modern
monarchy. What’s a monarch with power? A hereditary dictator?
That doesn’t sound too good.
