Are you expecting any hideous gifts?

I think we all have a family member or a friend with a
questionable taste that they demonstrate even when they buy
Christmas presents. Dancing toys singing Christmas carols,
animal statuettes, tacky jewellery, pictures of horses and
waterfalls that light up, over-decorated picture frames and
candle holders, fridge magnets and other junk.
Are you likely to get any such items this Christmas?

No, Nikola, I just get clothes. New shirts, sweaters, pants.
Stuff to wear. Not that i don’t need it. So I’m content with
those sorts of gifts. I know it sounds pretty unimaginative, but
I’ve always given just money in a Christmas card to my adult
nephews and niece. They’re happy with that.
As an aside, it looks like I’m not the only one in my family who
wants to move to Europe. My oldest sister and brother-in-law are
going to Spain this next year and staying there for 6 months.
They love the Spanish coastline from Barcelona. And I’m planning
to move to Germany after my mom passes on because there won’t be
anything left here in the States for me. My adult sons and
daughter never see me and live 400 miles away in LA. So, without
my mom, there’s no reason the be in the US any longer.

Well, yeah, but do you have a lot of kitsch/tacky items in Iran?
A quick research is telling me that Iranians don't expect
presents for Nowruz but if you insist on giving them something,
it should ideally be authentic (such as Persian calligraphy or
       something related to ancient symbols).
Are there Iranians who would weep for joy upon receiving
       something like this?

I have never received such things as a gift Nikola. :D
Actually, here in Iran, people mostly exchange money in Nowruz!
