Have you seen the Harlem Globetrotters?

My sister posted this video of baseball clowns to Facebook. I
had no idea that before the Harlem Globetrotters became so
famous, one of their stars had been a baseball player/clown in
the 40´s. Look how similar it was to the Harlem Globetrotters.

Apparently Goose Tatum was first a baseball clown and later a
Harlem Globetrotter. I remember seeing Meadowlark Lemon with
the Globetrotters in the 70¨s.
Here is a history of the Globetrotters. This video says that
the Harlem Globetrotters were famous around the world and at one
time greatly helped the popularity and style of the NBA that was
much less well known around the world. It is interesting, but
what struck me also were the changes in T.V. over the years. Do
you remember the early color TV really being that bad? I don´t
remember thinking it was bad but now it looks terrible compared
to what I am used to. (The clips I am referring to start around
10:30 in the video.) Especially the TV shots that supposedly
were from1980 (around 11:38 in the video). Neil, SuKi, SHL,
Martin, and anyone who can remember the 70´s or 80´s, do you
think those videos deteriorated or that color TV really was that
fuzzy in the 70´s and 80´s?

I loved the Globetrotters as a kid, saw them a few times. Of
course Curly and Meadowlark Lemon and the little guy with the
low dribbling and that big guy. Basically the line up they used
on Scooby Doo :-).
TV wasnt that bad in the 70s, except maybe in East Germany.
Whatever they taped that from had some serious color contrast
problems.
