Upskirting is no longer OK
By: Nikola Date: September 17, 2019, 1:19 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Upskirting is now illegal in the UK, so says an email I received
this morning. For those who have no clue what upskirting is, it
is the act of taking a photograph of underneath a person's skirt
without their consent (as opposed to taking one with their
consent, I suppose). So next time you feel like doing it, please
ask.
I hope you find this information useful.

Upskirting? It sounds like a kind of fashion. I didn't know the
word, but of course, I know what it is. It's definitely a crime!
Quote from the BBC in 2017.
*An upskirt photo is a photo taken up someone's skirt
without consent
*Such photos may end up on dedicated upskirt websites - which
are big business
*Some perpetrators have been known to use a camera embedded in
the top of their shoe
*To discourage covert photos, phones sold in Japan have a
shutter sound that cannot be disabled
Why don't they go to the underwear shops? They can be
photographers of advertisements of underwears. They can take
photos every day.
I read upskirting became illegal in 2019. It surprised me. Is it
now? It's late. It has been already illegal in Japan since the
camera phone was sold. Still, creepy and disgusting websites
show up anywhere. I'm really sorry for lots of victims.

Damn. Now I gotta go buy some new shoes. And it is so hard to
get the right flash and f-stop in my size.

I think that would take away all the fun. Right, Neal?
By the way, I like how inclusive the definition is, it says "a
person's skirt". Sounds like it also applies to kilts.

Nikola, yes, it applies to kilts!
Quote from BBC
Men wearing kilts will be protected from a new ban on
"upskirting" in England and Wales, a government spokeswoman has
said. Baroness Vere of Norbiton said the proposed law would
protect the "bodily dignity" of both men and women. She told
the Lords this would include "kilt upskirting", as she briefed
them about the government's plans.

In Scotland, a ban - which refers to operating equipment
under people's clothing - has been in place since 2009.

I read the article with Google translator. ;) It was difficult
even in Japanese.

Interesting that it was done for men years ago. Typical.
A visit to the underwear shop or a perusal of the Victoria's
Secret catalog does not suffice for these people because it isnt
about sex. It is about embarassment, humiliation, and power.
Most men are disgusted by the people doing it. My guys caught
someone doing it near our booth at a convention and the
perpetrator barely escaped without the crowd giving him a good
beating.
The pictures themselves are rather strange, the angles are
funny, and to be honest it is hard to make anything out. The
only thing it has ever done for me is to make women's underwear
even more of a puzzle. It doesn't look comfortable, it doesn't
look cut big enough to do a good job, and the fabric is all
wrong for the basic function. Who designed them? Men?
Im interested to see what the effect will be on the paparazzi.
Because of the tight fitting styles, movie and music starlets
often wear very skimpy underwear or sometimes none at all.
There is a whole cottage industry centered around accidental or
on purpose upskirt shots of starlets struggling to get in and
out of limousines in their stylish clothes. Pictures like that
can go for a lot of money - papers, magazines, and websites love
to publish them, depending on how famous the star. Papers and
magazines with a blurred out section for false modesty, the real
shot on the internet (often on whole websites devoted to such
pictures). I wonder if the starlets will be considered "public
figures" and therefore fair game, if it will be ok if there is
no money exchanged, etc...
Interesting times.

When I saw the Victoria's Secret Show on TV, I didn't understand
what they doing. I asked my daughter what was all about. She
said, "They are showing their underwears. It's a fashion show."
Then I asked, "so, Can they walk outside, showing their pretty
underwears? " "No way, mom!" :D
They are beautiful women and pretty underwears, but Victoria's
Secret Show is one of the strange things that I've ever seen.
They are not "under-wears". They are just "on-naked". if you
show them in public, you can not call them underwears. You might
call them swimwears.
Fashion show? ok then, they are not Secret anymore. ;D
