Dress Code

Does your workplace have a dress code?
I was used to wearing comfortable clothes like leggings and
dungarees (we've discussed this word before, they're overalls,
Minion pants if you will) because I used to get covered in food,
paint, glitter, dribble and even less desirable bodily fluids.
Therefore, it came as a bit of a shock to me that I am expected
to dress nicely in my current job. I realised I don't have any
actual trousers, they're all denim or leggings, so I'm having to
wear skirts and dresses and as much as I like that from time to
time, I'm not enough of a princess to do it every day. I can't
wait to get paid and finally buy some comfortable trousers.
Luckily, we don't have to wear shirts with collars. I'd probably
quit.

When I was casually strolling through Paris and popped into
Madame Macron, I was glad that I had a nice suit in my five star
hotel to wear at the dinner party I was invited to.
Fortunately neither Bolsonaro nor his northern acolytes were
there. I had a nice chat with Brigitte and we went shopping
together the next day. I really enjoyed it. What a blessed life!

I wear a kind of work uniform, so I change my clothes for the
work. It is at least expected to wear the uniform jacket, though
changing trousers and shoes is convenient and helps protecting
my private clothes. There are days when all my duties are done
on a computer and nobody bothers what I wear.
When I was younger I was always dressed in a jacket and tie when
getting to work (before changing clothes), but after some time I
realised nobody expected it. Some people even asked 'Are you
going to some kind of an official meeting after work?'. So I
switched to normal trousers and sweater or waterproof jacket
depending on the weather.
When I see people in many institutions (maybe except for banks
and offices), the dress code nowadays seems to be less demanding
that it was 20 years ago or more.

I thought you were going to propose a dress code for typing on
EGP. That would be bad, I am usually in my pajamas :-)

I saw your pic on italki a few years ago. You didn't appear to
be that fat. :D

I wore a bikini at work when I was young. It was a simple dress
code.
It was the most effective way of collecting male customers at
the beer stand on the beach.

Chizuko - Hubba Hubba!
Jerry, you're right, I am just ugly.
Actually, I don't remember posting a pic on Italki of a human
being. I was the cartoon character Race, from Johnny Quest, a
bunch of onions, or a small piglet. Not sure if there was
another. I always liked yours, with the coffee.
My favorite was Aliph, with a stylized cat as the letter A I
believe.

@Sofia
Good to see you back. That was a great parody of your own style.
I'm glad to see you reenter the jungle equipped with humour. Way
to go!
@Martin
It's interesting that you find the dress code in your country
more relaxed than 20 years ago. I wonder if it's because there
are more in-between options nowadays, you get chinos, casual
shirts, polo shirts. The clothing options here in the '90s were
very limited so I suppose you had to go formal or informal all
the way. I remember when the newly emerged businessmen started
wearing purple suit jackets. It was a strange fashion.
@Neal
I don't think I'm prepared to know what people are wearing while
typing their comments. Some images could be really hard to
unsee.
@Chizuko
You never cease to surprise me. Honestly.

You're right Nikola, in reality I don't own pajamas. I type in
the nude.

Joking around with good people is the best part of this forum.
We men tend to mock-insult other men to show that we like them,
in case any women are wondering. Neal is neither fat nor ugly.
You had a picture of a man sitting at a computer looking up at
the camera. I assumed that was you. I remember the piglet, too.
