       Good discussion on Democracy Now!
„Democracy is incompatible with capitalism“. Fascism is
compatible with capitalism but not democracy:

       Democracy "Now"?
Steven this is a 10 minute program that basically says nothing
about a failed collection of essays published 5 years ago. The
author list is a collection of dusty Vietnam era radicals
dressing their Communism in Social Justice rags. I wonder if
any other book has as many convicted felons as authors?
Wonder why there is no viable, organized American Socialist
Party? Because American Socialist leaders (like Angela Davis)
have the curb appeal of a slaughterhouse.
"When you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao, you know you
ain't gonna make it with anyone, anyhow.

Neal, I thought that was a brilliant interview, and RT or
Democracy Now!— the only tv shows, other than the German ones, I
can trust to tell the truth and get it right, are the only ones
       I listen to.
Socialism is indeed the purest form of democracy and capitalism
really just leads to Faschism eventually. These are very good
insights these people bring up. It’s not about carrying a
picture around of chairman Mao. That’s on sold Beatles song and
a favorite myth propagated about socialism of that right wing
capitalist dictator Ronald Reagan, that senile old creep who
people think was great. He was probable so senile toward the end
he could barely sign his own name. And he did nothing to bring
the Berlin Wall down with his silly little bird-brained speech.
Democratic socialism is the future, so you better start getting
used to it. AOC is for it. We are electing good people like her
to take on the evil republican fascist establishment, and we are
       making slow progress.
Tax the fat cat rich and redistribute the wealth around I say.
And you should listen to Dr. Angela Davis´ lectures. She gave a
great one at Oxford recently. She’s a true intellectual and
human rights activist. We need to stand by Cuba now more than
ever like she said. Right on!

Steven, socialism has always been supported by intellectuals,
artists and all sorts of outstanding minds, yet you choose to
repeatedly quote this woman with zero integrity, who, when given
the choice of either sticking to her beliefs and fighting for
human rights, or feeding her ego by building a career based on
kissing the right a***s, chose the latter. Imagine a human right
activist supporting Kim Jong-un's regime. It just doesn't work,
does it? I was told she was a complete joke to the working class
in the socialist Czechoslovakia. If even the people she was
supposedly fighting for didn't take her seriously, why should
       we?

Amen to what Nikola said, I'm telling you Steven if you actually
quoted someone with integrity and intelligence I might have to
approach what you write with a modicum of actual effort. Right
now I have half my brain tied behind my back, just to make it
       fair.
What made the interview 'brilliant'? It is a puff piece
advertising her new ( in 2014) book. She has some quotes but
does nothing to substantiate them. And I am not saying she gives
weak arguments, I am saying she gives no arguments at all,
except to buy her book of criminal leftist authors.
I'm not watching Angela anymore. I can see where you get your
logical problems from if she was one of your professors. She is
queen of setting up horrific strawmen and heroically knocking
them over. I hate crony capitalism and the excess of big
corporations too. These are not ideas that real capitalists
protect - they are abuses. I also hate the stupidity of big
labor and the adversarial union/management approach. She is
       blind to it. Revolutionary crapola.
So please read and listen to some stuff that require you to put
on your big boy pants. You're giving socialism a bad name.

Well you guys who are always bad-mouthing socialism like it's a
bad word. That’s right out of the 1950s. Super-out-of-date.
American republicanism is fascism. They are never going to give
even ideas like universal healthcare, free higher education or
affordable housing a thought, as long as they can keep making
themselves and their cronies richer with ridiculous tax breaks.
That’s called selfish greed. Those are obviously bad people.
Their philosophy is „Me first“ while the rest of the population
goes to h*ll in a hand basket. But, you have to keep some of the
little slave workers alive to keep the money flowing into the
rich people‘s pockets, so you throw them a few bones as
necessary to kept them working. It’s just wage slavery really.
And Angela Davis is a true intellectual and has numerous awards
for her human rights advocacy. I wouldn’t take something Angela
Davis said 40 or 50 year ago, out of context, and say that’s all
she’s about. Times have changed and her views are more refined
now. Then she then was a fighter for human rights, along with
Malcom X, whom she met, and others. She supported the Black
Panthers, who actually started out as a good organization. They
went a bit too far later on. Yeah. But, the starting philosophy
       was good.
She made a few misjudgments along the way, but that didn't taint
her for life. She even supported Jim Jones and the Peoples
Temple once before they disappeared, only because their
principles were correct. But, once they disappeared she moved on
       to more contemporary matters.
And what „criminal leftist Autors are you referring to?“ Neal,
that sounds made up to me.

Here, this is from a review of the book. I think it is
       "brilliant"
The book consists of 31 essays written for the most part by
avowed or closeted (disguised as merely social justice
socialists) communists. Their true philosophies were readily
apparent during reading of the introduction to the book. The
individual essays proved my initial assessment. Apart from the
obvious references to communism (socialism substituted for the
word communism throughout, overwhelming amount of quotes from
Karl Marx, glowing references to communist Cuba, China, and the
Soviet Union), and the choice of contributors is a dead give
away to the books' true political leanings.
All of the essays attempt to prove their point by providing
unproven, undocumented, numbers, data, statistics, quotes,
without citing a source. An uninformed reader would presume the
writings were factual. Was that the plan? Considering 10 of the
31 are current or former college professors (which is
frightening enough) it would seem those esteemed scholars would
know citing sources is imperative to a believable
       essay,otherwise it is merely propaganda.
Although lacking citation pages, each author's biography is
included with notable exclusions. For instance, Angela Davis was
a Black Panther party leader in the 60's/early 70's and was on
the FBI's most wanted list for her complicity in the murder of a
       CA judge & hostage taking in 1970 of 4 jurors in a murder trial;
Wiliam Ayers w/wife Bernadine Dohrn, was a co-founder of the
Weather Underground (an off-shoot of the SDS), and was placed on
the FBI's most wanted list for bombing the Capital Building,
Pentagon, and numerous police stations in the 1960/70's. One of
the bombings resulted in the murder of Police Sgt. Brian
McDonnell in 1970; Mumia Abu-Jamal was a Black Panther member
who murdered policeman Daniel Falkner (not ALLEDGED as the book
states); Ajamu Baraka is an avowed communist (that fact not
mentioned in his biography); Michael Ratner is an avowed
communist (not mentioned in his biography); the list of
contributing communist and communist sympathizers continues ad
       nauseam.
All essayists rail against capitalism, yet each have benefited
quite well from the very same system they all deem dehumaninzing
and economically unfair to the poor and downtrodden masses of
humanity forced into servitude by the overwhelming multitude of
evil, greedy employers of any size. To employ is to exploit is
their mantra. These pseudo-intellectuals profess to provide
solutions they believe will ultimately result in a utopian
nirvana to all of humanity as their sole existance in life, yet
their version of utopia is destruction of all the United States
       of America was founded on.
If they so despise America, I have one word of advice - LEAVE!
I'm more than positive Zimbabwe, Cuba, China, or Russia would
       whole-heartedly embrace your anti-capitalist, communist/marxist
idealism. Except that all of those countries have strict
immigration laws and since none of those essayists have any
meaningful skills to offer a host country, they wouldn't be
welcome. All snide remarks aside, those considering and/or
embracing a utopian, communist world should remember these words
from a book written in 1946: "All animals are equal. But some
animals are more equal than others." Unlike the essayists of
this book, I will cite the quote: 'Animal Farm, George Orwell,
       1946, Harcourt Brace & Company.'

I think you'd like some of his essays. He criticised various
aspects of capitalism quite harshly but at the same time was
       strongly against Stalinist totalitarianism.
