Puzzle alarm - do not read if you find puzzles boring
By: Alharacas Date: April 29, 2018, 12:03 pm

The first letters of the words you need to find will tell you
what solving puzzles is all about. Native speakers, please don't
spoil it, okay? Just in case somebody else decides to drop in in
       the next millennium.
       1 - This country's capital is Warsaw.
2 - The sun does this in the morning.
3 - You need two of these for rowing.
4 - A Roman, so important they named a delicious salad for him.
       5 - A ladder will have several.
6 - Would you like to shoot an arrow? You'll need both!
7 - Drink it from a cup or eat it with a spoon.
8 - Beverage associated with England.
9 - Metal used for tools.
10 - Greek, Roman or snub - it's in your face.
11 - This fruit led to Eve's downfall.
12 - The shortest way from one valley to another.
       13 - Summer treat.
14 - Product made from olives.
15 - This one won't be hard to crack, I think.

       That's too long! Can you make a four-letter word? I'm a
       millennial!

Hey, and what about this puzzle section we were talking the
other day? Where do you want it to go?

I'll do this puzzle later when I get around to it. <---Note:
       joke.
However, I do feel a need to point out that what Eve ate was not
an apple. It was the fruit of "the tree of knowledge of good and
evil." But "fottokogae" just doesn't seem to fit.

Thanks for clearing that up, Dan. Unfortunately, your reply made
me laugh so much that for the life of me I can't now think of a
different way to phrase that question.

Are you familiar with palindromes? They are sentences that read
the same, letter by letter, forwards and backwards. One classic
is "A man, a plan, a canal--Panama!" In any case, it is said
that when Adam and Eve met, Adam introduced himself with the
       palindrome
       "Madam, I'm Adam."
       And Eve, of course, replied:
       "Eve."

Yes, I know about them. Unfortunately, the longest German
palindrome I know of would be considered non-pc these days:
Ein Neger mit Gazelle zagt im Regen nie. (A negro with a gazelle
never hesitates in the rain. - And yes, it sounds just as
nonsensical in German as it does in English.)
BTW, shouldn't that be in a different thread?
