Oh my God.
There are several members considering leaving over the incident.
We are trying to fix it. There was an incident. To
characterize this situation as some long term running problem is
ridiculous.
1. Tough. If you cannot figure out where your threads belong
Steve I am not sure I can help you. I could sit here and say
"oh, we are open to changes in the structure" and kiss your @ss
but you already know all that. The structure isn't set in
stone. Just to help you a little bit, for the most part the
posts you start yourself belong in the political section of the
site. This is not a problem. The problem comes when you cannot
keep politics out of the posts you write on other threads. The
approach of the moderators and admin of this site will be to
continue to arbitrarily and unapologetically move posts that in
their opinion do not belong on a thread. My own posts have been
"moderated". Good. Sometimes I speak out of turn and I deserve
it. Frankly Steve, so do you.
2. This site will be run as a plurality. There were three
moderators/admin not because the site required it but because I
require a leadership style in which I can be challenged by
equals. I included Europeans on purpose because the last thing
this site needs is a U.S. only leadership. This site could get
many more active posters with no increase in oversight. It will
not get less. I do not accept that the number of moderators on
this board makes this place feel overly regulated. I
respectfully submit to you Steve that often your posts require
regulation. If you cannot accept that in good humor you will
have to include that fact in your deliberations on whether or
not to keep posting.
3. Besides outright Holocaust Denial I cannot think of any
topic, from religion to politics to abortion that has been
censored on this site. Quite frankly I am calling "Bullshit" on
this claim. On one topic you were asked by a person I thought
to be your friend to censor yourself because your stance
bothered them in a personal way. Was that really too much for
that person to ask? Of all the things you have brought up on
this site, some of them objectively distasteful, that one favor
sticks in your craw that deeply?
The input of every member here is valuable. There has not been
a single conversation amongst the admin/moderators of this board
that it would be ok to be rude to a member, or not care about
the concerns of a member because "Who needs them anyway?". That
is not happening here, membership concerns are being addressed.
I completely reject the idea that Alharacas losing her temper in
frustration was some "new path" this board has taken. It was a
mistake, made by a human being. She is no longer a
admin/moderator because of it. Because of the feelings of the
membership about post editing that power has been taken away
from moderators. Alharacas didn't threaten or belittle you in a
severe personal way so I have not asked her for a public
apology. In my mind, unless there are more concerns, enough has
been done.
The message, to **** shut up does not belong on a board
dedicated to the free exchange of thoughts and ideas. I get
that. I can see where that sentiment could become toxic and it
should not be permitted.
But on a personal note Steven, there are quite a few people in
my life that can tell me to **** shut up. They have that right
because I know sometimes I say stupid things (usually to get a
laugh). Sometimes I deserve it. Sometimes I don't. Sometimes
the human being on the other side is having a bad day, or the
topic under discussion bothers them personally, or they
completely mistook my tone. Whatever. They have the right to
tell me to **** shut up because of all the times in the past
they were there for me as a friend. I opened this message with
oh my god because I know for a fact by your own admission
Alharacas has been there as a friend for you. Have you already
forgotten this? Now she tells you once to **** shut up and this
is how you repay her friendship? I don't think that is right.
Please include the human and personal in your deliberations.

but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not
be conceited. 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful
to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is
possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with
everyone.
