(That’s how idi Amin used to address his crowds- sorry, just
having fun. Couldn’t resist).
Again, I appreciate the vote of confidence, since all I am
getting from Jerry are votes of no-confidence, as if I were the
British Prime Minister. Jerry is about to call for a „Steven-Ex“
referendum. Neal would join in for sure.
And, he wants to exile me to some other board so I‘d have no one
to talk to. Gee. That‘s no fun. My intellect would go sour in
three days.
I think Jerry is probably a pretty nice guy if you could just
get beyond his politics. He’s probably pretty rich too, is my
guess, big air conditioned house in Indiana he bought cheap,
while I am sweltering here in 37 degree heat (next week it‘s
supposed to cool down a lot, even rain is predicted for Monday I
think, thank god, and Berlin weather doesn’t seem too bad
either, but the hotel is air-conditioned so it doesn’t matter.
See, this didn‘t happen 40 years ago. Back then it was never hot
in the Summer like now. Global warming.
I have to confess a goof up on my part (I wasn’t going to say
anything because I was a bit embarrassed). I accidentally locked
my rental car key in the Skoda a few day ago (can you imagine?
What a nightmare). I hand to call Europcar in Hamburg and got
switched around to several dummies I had to talk to („Ich muß
meinen Kollegen fragen“-I heard that one a lot). They sent this
Abschleppdienst/the towing service, and brake down service and
this dummy couldn’t open the door, even though his boss had
promised me on the phone, „keine Sorge, wir kriegen es hin“, not
to worry, we‘ll manage it. They couldn’t do anything and said
they could only recommend a Scheibeneinschlag (breaking a
window). I was like „h*ll no.“ Then the rental car company told
me they would send the spare key down to Jena from Hamburg and I
could rent car for a few days until it arrived. What an
embarrassment. It came the next day, so I went up to Jena and am
back in business now. Oh and the cutest young lady helped me at
Europcar in Jena. She was young and really really pretty. Young
enough to be my daughter unfortunately. Meeting her was worth
the ordeal. Anyway she said, „Your German is really good. Are
you here visiting relatives?“
She was so sweet.
Back to Jerry. He just doesn’t like political opposition is all.
