Consciousness“- a well-respected field, Jerry

Both Jerry and Neal need a University course in the History of
Consciousness, taught by a Professor like Angela Davis, someone
of her character and caliber, and status. It would be good for
them. :)

She‘s internationally known, or was before the millennials came
along and forgot about her. She was photographed with Eric
Honecker, and the Cubans loved her. She had such a standing
ovation from the crowd she could hardly speak. I‘d take a class
from her.

I think that celebrating someone like her might actually be
against the law in my country, not even joking. We have a Law
Against Support and Dissemination of Movements Oppressing Human
Rights and Freedoms which also applies to communist-perpetrated
atrocities. Just something to be aware of if you happen to cross
the Czech border.

Angela Davis is a person not a movement, and I doubt very much
today she would say she approved of oppressing human rights
(quite the contrary) and freedoms. I‘m not sure even in the past
she did anything to oppress human rights or freedoms.
But, as far as I can tell, from listening to her recent talks
and lectures, there is nothing to be found other than an
expression of support for freedom and human rights.

The article that said "And to this day, she has never voiced
regret about her alliance with totalitarian regimes" was from
January this year. Unless she has said something since, or the
authors missed something, that sounds like approval to me.
I mean, this isn't something you just forget to do because
you're busy, is it?

Well, I‘ve searched but can‘t the article you are referring to,
about her not voicing regret about „alliance(s) with
totalitarian regimes“, which derives from January. I don’t doubt
it‘s somewhere, I just can‘t find it.
I have looked at several shorter recent videos of hers on
YouTube (I didn‘t want to post something that’s more than 5
minutes) and can‘t find anything where she addresses this. Most
socialists, which she does admit to still being, refuse to even
recognize today that the USSR and its associated States at the
time were even socialist to begin with. Most say they were just
totalitarian State-Capitalist States.
The Wikipedia references on her date to 1972, 1975 and the
latest to 1992. So, they are considerably out-of-date. I have no
idea what her current position is about her alleged former
„alliances“ with totalitarian regimes.
She used to support Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple back in
1978, before the mass murder/suicide of the group in that year
in Guyana. But, I very much doubt that today she‘d refuse to say
Jim Jones did anything wrong.

laws criminalizing male homosexuality (which, unlike rarely

The Forward has a slight to moderate liberal bias, apparently.
So it's no right-wing propaganda.
