LEXILOGOS one of the best resources for language learners

This is one of my favorite websites. I look at the French
version where I found amazing free grammar books, online
dictionaries and even started a private discussion with one of
the linguists that contributes to the website.
Since French isn’t popular here I give you the English page. If
you want a dictionary and resources on a given language, just
click on the flag of your target language. Enjoy!

I agree, it's brilliant when you need a different keyboard. What
I particularly like about it is that I don't need to try and
enlarge the font size, it's perfectly legible right from the
       start!
So far, I haven't tried any of their other resources - using the
dictionary seemed a bit complicated to me, but I may be wrong
       there.

If you put on your desktop the link to the dictionary you prefer
       you will find it easily.
The other resources are just incredible. I only know thoroughly
the Arabic section. You can find old dictionaries, historical
articles about the language. Download for free grammars etc.
Since I am interested in etymology and the migration of words
from Ancient Greek to ancient Persian or Arabic, back and forth
I wrote to one of the adresses on the site and started an
       interesting mail exchange.

Sofia, I must be really stupid! I opened the link you provided.
Then I typed in the word "money" (I actually know the word, it's
"pul", but I'm not sure of its spelling). Then, when I click on
one of the "English - Persian" dictionaries, I get a list of
literally hundreds of entries. For Steingass, it's 321 entries,
i.e. all of those which have the word "money" in it. Now, that
may be somewhat helpful for translators looking for a
particularly rare idiom, but what use is it in the normal course
       of events?
Is there any way to adjust the settings? Am I doing something
       wrong?

No, for God’s sake you aren’t dumb. The English-Farsi
dictionaries aren’t for language learners. Stick to
Langenscheidt German/ Farsi if it is as good as the
German/Arabic you will be well served.
  HTML https://de.langenscheidt.com/deutsch-persisch/search?term=house
I tried the French version of LEXILOGOS unfortunately there is
       no Larousse to Persian.

For Farsi, I found this website. Here I would definitely stick
       to English

Thank you, Sofia! And thanks for sorting them by language for us
       :)

Thank you, Sofia. Do you know anything about this site?
I feel rather uncomfortable, using some no-name online
dictionary - in my experience, you invariably end up saying
something extremely strange, nonsensical or downright insulting
       if you rely on them.
Unfortunately, I find the Langenscheidt for Farsi is as bad as
       the Spanish-German and the English-German one, i.e. you'll often
be given a kind of "niche" meaning for a word, instead of its
most frequent meaning. They're not mistakes as such, the word
does mean what they tell you it means - but only in a very
particular context/area/dialect. You're lucky if the Arabic
       edition is so much better!

I just checked the Farsi dictionary with words I could read in
Farsi and are cognates to Arabic. No funny things came up for
       house, president, nationality, loneliness.
There isn’t a single perfect dictionary. Of course in one’s own
native language one can find such a jewel, for instance in
French there is the Petit Robert, I know people with a PhD in
literature that have it on their smartphone (45 euros).
For Arabic, I usually look on three or four different
       dictionaries
       1) Hans Wehr downloaded for free
       2) Larousse on lexilogos
       3) Cambridge online for free (no Farsi, I checked)
       4) al Mawrid with sound purchased online (35 euros)
       5) a simplified version of al Mawrid bought for 10 euros
       downloaded
My teachers look up Google and frankly it isn’t bad.
I gave all the paper dictionaries to my former Syrian language
       partner, couldn’t read them anymore.
When I switch lessons from an Egyptian teacher to a Palestinian
       the vocabulary changes!
Oh they say that Arabic has as many words as the Ocean has
       fishes.
