German people are so nice............

I traveled to the Braunschweig area today and arranged to visit
the people who rented a room to me when I worked at a
supermarket in Braunschweig in the Summer of 1980.
When I worked at the Supermarket it was called Real Kauf. Over
the years the name changed to just Real.
Below was the greeting I got when I arrived. The people invited
me to stay the night with them on way to Ostfriesland.
I know there are nice people everywhere, but I have never
encountered people like this in the US (I’m sure they are
around, I just never ran into them). Maybe this has something to
do with my love of Germany and the language (and these people
don’t speak any English). Maybe this is just one of many reasons
Germany always felt more like home to me that the US. I always
had exceptional German teachers and ended up running into people
like this (very kind indeed):
