No, Sunshine, although I'd really like a house lizard!
What we had in Spain were resident geckos, though. I loved
watching them walk on their little suction cup feet across the
glass sliding doors, and it was fascinating to see them battle -
and eventually eat - insects almost bigger than themselves.
The flying aunts reminded me of a story by an author whose books
had been burnt by the Nazis. Right after the war, he was
commandeered to work as an interpreter for the US' armed forces
in Germany, because of his spotless record, despite his rather
       sketchy knowledge of English.
One day, a guy came to make a complaint about his neighbour, or
rather his neighbour's aunts. Apparently, those aunts were
extremely loud and annoying, walking and crapping all over the
aggrieved guy's house and garden - very much to the surprise of
the officer the author was translating all this for, from German
to English. Until the author remembered that the English word
for Ente was "duck", not "aunt".

BTW, I have a house lizard as a pet:D Do anyone get afraid of
house lizard? And is it common in your place to find a house
       lizard in houses?
       [/quote]
I like lizards. I'd be much more comfortable around them than I
am around spiders so lizards could come and catch the insects
around the house instead of them. If any lizards are reading
this, please apply now and don't forget to attach your CV.
I mean, small lizards are cute but when I was in Thailand, I
came across the tokay gecko. They're quite big and they sound
like they're constantly saying "f*ck you". I found them
       intimidating on multiple levels.

Chizuko I know those cicadas, and I hate them with a passion.
Where I used to live a a kid was actually less rural, more like
a suburb, and the trees were full of cicadas all summer long.
What a racket! They were Africa huge and clumsy flyers and they
would often just fly right into you. So ugly! Green and
crunchy when you stepped on them -ugh!
One summer I bought a hat that I thought looked good and would
attract all the girls. Expensive hat! A Damn cicada landed on
it without me knowing until he started chirping from the top of
my head. It was deafening! I threw the hat down and stomped on
it. Ugh! There was no salvaging it, I just left my new hat
       right there in the street.
I almost didn't move here because it is even more rural and I
thought it would be overrun by cicadas. But out here we have
birds that love to eat them.

In the county I used to live in they monitor the cicada
population and those cicadas are on a 17 year rotation. The
monitors know when a big population is coming up. One of the
things that has reduced the population of cicadas where I used
to live is urbanization. A cicada goes underground, in the
ensuing 17 years his way out gets paved over or turned into the
foundation of a new house. He dies without mating. Poor cicada
       :-(

Another topic about bugs. I hate bugs. Although I am not from
Buenos Aires, I say it anyway kill'em all.

I agree Pasha. Bugs don’t last long in my house when I find
them. They go down the toilet fast after being squashed.
