Hat’s off to you SuKi. I admire people who acknowledge their
errors, unlike a certain US President I know of who never does
this because he’s a narcissistic mental case and makes a fool of
himself everywhere he goes ;)

Thank you Irena, for the compliment.
And don’t worry, I just took a chill-pill, my morning Xanax.

No, it‘s Mr. Orange hair comb-over, the current guy. AND a rabid
Republican. You can‘t trust any of them. Why can‘t we get
someone good in there, like Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsome, Nancy
Pelsoi?

Really? ??? ??? Fascinating. To my ears, it sounds wrong. But I
suppose it might be okay-ish is you interpret it as "and have
not changed, hardly at all, in the past centuries" (notice the
commas). I guess. ;)
[/quote]
Yeah, it's wrong. That's why I said colloquial. ;)

Xanax?!! But Steve, you're in Germany. Surely that should be
enough for you to relax. Go out for a walk, and breathe some
German air. It'll do you good.

You lost me on the colloquial part. Words are colloquial.
Sentences are not. They might be slang, idioms or something like
that. Words are colloquial.

I‘m doing my laundry (no dryers so I have to hang it up fast)
because I‘m driving up to Braunschweig tomorrow and staying with
some friends before going to Jever for a week. Plus, it looks
like it‘s gonna rain.
And I have to carry my nitroglycerin tablets if I go walking in
case I get chest pain. :-\

As you said below, you aren't an English language expert.
HTML https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/colloquial
Wikipedia has a good entry on colloquial LANGUAGE and WRITING
STYLE. In part:
Some colloquial language contains a great deal of slang, but
some contains no slang at all. Slang is often used in colloquial
speech, but this particular register is restricted to particular
in-groups, and it is not a necessary element of
colloquialism.[7] Other examples of colloquial usage in English
include contractions or profanity.[7]
American literature is full of colloquial writing. Mark Twain
was a master of colloquial writing. I'm sure you've never heard
of him Steve.

You're very kind, Jerry, but let's face it, I make mistakes from
time to time ;)
