Writing Challenge: Day 1
By: Nikola Date: July 7, 2019, 4:59 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
We're starting early so that our friends in Asia aren't at a
disadvantage in case they decide to join us.
Here's our first task: Write a Hotel Review
It can be anything from a simple list of pros and cons to a
lengthy reflection on how much better your stay could have been
if the place had been in a better state. Make up the name of the
hotel and location, give star rating, have some fun with it :)
A bit of inspiration for beginners:

And for the more advanced:

Please post your entries as comments here so that they're all in
one place. People making corrections, please use a different
colour to highlight the words you've corrected. This way, we'll
be able to tell immediately which comments are entries and which
are corrections. Let me know if you're not sure how to do this.
Thank you :)

It's taken me over an hour to come up with and type those 4

Edit
Lovely Language Partner said it was "afarin", great. Yay.

Sindibad Grand Hotel Palace in Basrah, Iraq 4 stars hotel
We already had visited previously this hotel in the company of
our friend the renowned British novelist Agatha Christie. This
time however we found that the hotel had lost his old charm. The
Iraqi airline company has installed a terminal in the hotel
which has become quite noisy and is visited by uninteresting
people, mainly business men of the local oil industry. We were
there in July and the weather was very hot and humid (above 50
degrees Celsius). We flew in from Baghdad where the temperature
was even higher but the air more dry. The air conditioning
wasn’t working properly. We complained to the manager who
explained us that, due to the difficult political circumstances,
it wasn’t always possible to receive new spare parts for the
hotel equipment. He offered us an upgrade and we got a nice
suite on the fifth floor overlooking the palm grove with a
gorgeous view over the entire city and the delta of the Shatt el
Arab. The AC still wasn’t working but we had a fresh breeze
coming from the Gulf. At night we could see the lights of the
nearby Kuwait City. During our stay there we took a boat trip
upwards on the delta and visited some of the floating islands
described by Wilfred Thesiger in his book “Arabs of the
Marshes”.

Hotel Zenobia a Tadmor-Palmira, Siria

L'aqua nel bagno è calda o fredda but
non è mai giusta. Il letto è abbastanza comodo. La colazione non
era male. C’è il pane fresco, salumi e formaggi, burro,
marmellata. Dovete provare la torta fatta in casa. Purtroppo
nessuno in tutto l’albergo sa come fare un caffè vero. Casa
dolce casa!

Brava! Complimenti. Instead of *perché* you can also use *dato
che* when you want to express a cause.
In Italy you never would find such an amazing breakfast. ;)

Grazie mille Sofia! Now what's wrong with my brain? I read it
several times and didn't notice I'd written "but" instead of
"ma" :D
I would correct your entry in English but I generally try to
avoid correcting English texts because it wouldn't be perfect.
If none of the native speakers correct it, I'll do it.
