A little story from when I was a kid.
In the 80's a cousin came from Italy to visit. He was in his
twenties, good looking and of course always well dressed and
well groomed. He also had a sense of style and a certain grace
and charm...
I go over to my Grandmother's house to meet him and he is on the
porch with my grandmother and my father and uncles chatting in
Italian. As I walk up I notice all my female cousins in a
group, ages 13 to 30 something, all standing around watching
this guy, whispering and giggling. To them he just oozed charm
and sex, they were all smitten. It was amazing watching the
women in the family falling all over this guy for the week he
was here, even the married ones! My mother just said cousin
Neil just had "this certain something", even in the way he
tossed his coat over his shoulder. I knew right then I could go
to Italy to study it, but I could never master that kind of
appeal, which to my cousin was probably completely unconscious.
I know the power of Italian women personally. I witnessed the
power of the Italian male that week, and never truly felt like a
real man ever again.

I know Sofia, believe me it is the one thing I am worried about.
I go through the whole citizenship process, with its paperwork
and bloodlines, I show my interest by mastering Italian, I get
to the end of the whole thing and then they show me to the "la
bella figura" office.
I know they wouldn't expect me to be able to uphold the same
standards as a native Italian man, but I am such a mess in terms
of fashion and hair and manners they would tear their hair out
in frustration and stamp my application "RIFIUTARE" in big red
letters.
It is a recurring nightmare.

I can imagine Neal. You might wind up in the Rifiutare stack so
you better learn to box clever (I like that expression-I think
it‘s British)
As to your young cousin visiting, I think it all had to do with
age, not style. If he had been 50 or 60 and just as style
conscious it would have been a very different story

I wear Crocs too. Light, and really good traction on wet and/or
slimy concrete floors. I usually wear yellow or blue traction
socks, sometimes one of each color.
Im not much of a fashion plate.

You know Italian men are the most elegant in the world.

Elegant? They can have that title. Women are supposed to be
elegant, not men. Disgusting.
