Meanwhile...in Spain

From Accuweather:
"Amid the heat, hundreds of firefighters worked to contain a
major wildfire that officials believe was started when a pile of
chicken manure self-combusted, similar to the threat that wet
hay bales pose."

Apparently, spontaneous combustion is caused by aerobic
bacteria. I must admit I had no idea bacteria did such things in
their free time.

Yeah. And it's not that rare, either. Happened to me shortly
after I'd bought my house. Had a huge mound of cut grass,
looking quite normal from the outside, but which suddenly
started emitting smoke. Took us ages to extinguish the fire
inside. However, nobody would believe us. Everybody just went
"Yeah, yeah, very dangerous, throwing burning cigarette butts
about", even though a) I'd been brought up to be
extra-super-careful about this, b) we'd noticed by digging up
countless cigarette ends from the previous tenants how they
wouldn't decay, therefore had dedided quite early on we wouldn't
be adding to this kind of crap and c) the bleeding mound had
been burning from the inside out.

Goodness me, Alharacas, how old were you when you started
smoking? :)

Not very old, no. ;) But actually, my mother and my much older
brother used to smoke all through my childhood, frequently being
admonished by my outdoorsy, non-smoking father about what to do
with their cigarette ends. That's why I think it's safe to say I
was brought up to be careful about this, wouldn't you agree?

Oh, the being careful part is understandable. It's just that I
never had the cigarette-butt talk with my parents.
