Macron and the delicious wife

Some weeks ago, during a diplomatic trip to Australia, the
French president Emmanuel Macron said that the wife of the PM
Malcon Turnbull was "delicious",
He clearly meant "delightful", but it was funny all the same.
Have you ever made this kind of confusion in your target
language?
Anything interesting or funny to share?

We clearly can't compare but, as it happens to most
Brazilians... who I am trying to fool? I mean, to ALL
Brazilians, every time I see the word "push", I have to make
some mental gymnastics.
If I read the word "push" in my native accent, it would more or
less like "pooshy", which is the pronunciation of the word
"puxe" (pull) in Portuguese. I've known it for years, but it's
stronger than me.
When I was a child, I went to McDonald's with my parents and, as
I was starting to learn how to read, I saw the word "push" at
the door and pulled with all my strength. Needless to say, it
didn't work,
Next time we went to McDonalds (but another restaurant), I saw
the word "puxe" (this time in Portuguese) and thought to myself
"Ha, this time I know better!".
It's been a trauma ever since.

Portuguese verb, thanks! :)
Sorry, I know this isn't what you're talking about, but I have a
really hard time remembering Turkish words. Just yesterday I
introduced my best friend to a Turkish family, proudly saying
"kız kardeşım", causing great surprise,
excitement, and finally the question whether she was my big or
my little sister. Apparently, Turkish is the language which is
at last making me discover my inner dyslexic: "my (girl)friend"
is "kız arkadaşım".
So far, the only words I have no trouble with at all are "armut"
(pear; Armut means poverty in German) and "tabak" (plate; Tabak
is tobacco in German).
