       What is happening in France?

I know today is May Day so all the communists are out, but we
cant seem to get a straight answer about the "Yellow Vests".
Who are they, what are they demonstrating about? I get
conflicting reports about what they believe in.

The Yellow Vests are Anarchists funded by Soros, most likely.

The president Macron and French Government changed the plan of
raising oil tax since the yellow vest demo was so strong. Can
you say it is a democracy? Is it fine to change it easily? I'm
not sure the details of that, but it sounds very violent to me.
I hear that Paris is not beautiful now. Sorry about that.

The French don't need Soros' money to protest. Different
       culture, Jerry.
I'm not sure they're anarchists either. I'm also not convinced
they quite know what they want... :-\

That is the thing, no one seems to know what they want. All
sorts of people over here are taking credit or laying blame,
none of it makes sense. Why don't they have a coherent message?

Personally, I always enjoy a good French farmer strike. What
happened to those? I remember them being a regular feature of
the evening news in the 1980s and maybe the '70s. I'd warm up
the set { In the old days, we had to warm up the tube TVs,
that's the origin of 'warming up the set' for you kids on here
who never knew the hardship of waiting a couple of minutes for
the set to be ready to watch. And don't get me started on the
lack of remote controls. You don't know drudgery until you have
to wade through 3 inches of shag carpeting to change the channel
or turn the volume down. No wonder I have gray hair. I digress.
} and settle in for a report of the aggrieved farmers blocking
the roads with their tractors, combines, expensive trucks, and
maybe a few sheep thrown in for good measure. That was real TV.
They must have gotten their higher commodities prices because
the price of a pound of snails over here in the states is out of
control. I've had to resort to catching my own frogs too.

My impression is that they've got a lot of accummulated anger,
but they're not really a political movement that can be
       negotiated with. I don't think they're exactly a revolutionary
movement, either. They're throwing a tantrum in the hope that
the powers that be will notice them and give them - something.
And they themselves don't quite seem to know what that something
       is supposed to be.
(Yes, yes, I know, gas tax increase. But that's gone, so what
are their demands now? It all seems rather incoherent.)

I don't think they know what they want. They know they're angry
and unhappy. But I think they want someone else to figure out
what they want, because they themselves aren't quite sure what
       it is.

       They're a mixture of far-left and far-right supporters (just
goes to show how much those two have in common, in my opinion).
They seem to have some anti-Semites and other intolerant
       individuals among themselves.
