Thanks, Gerry! We're by the Main, which sounds great! I've
always had a nose for walk around and pick a restaurant, we
really enjoy that. Sounds like the perfect place to do it. The
tour people are recommending reservations, I guess they're
expecting too many people, but maybe I can talk my wife into
just winging it with your info.
That didn't work well in Baton Rouge this weekend, restaurants
are too spread out. Did well in NO, Arnaud's for a fantastic
dinner, then Snug Harbor to listen to Ellis Marsalis.
Excellent! (But we did have reservations for all that)

Oh gosh, you have a million choices. Gerry steered you rightly
for a lunchtime stop at Schwartz's .... and he has given you a
good rundown of the area around the main.

Those places look great! Maybe I should skip the bus back to
Vermont? Not sure how many dinners I can do in one night?
I don't know when we're getting into town. We're riding about
50 miles Saturday, I think there's a stop for a tour somewhere.
Supposedly we'll have time to explore the City.
I think I have your addy, I'll have to look on my home computer.
You guys are a big help, really looking forward to this trip.

Freep, thanks for the Hospitality! The wife and I had a good
time, and now I know I can still get good coffee in Canada!
Can't wait to do that ride again! Got an appointment with the
Ortho, maybe I can actually do the whole ride next time - with
both legs!
Looks like ITBS - treatable and preventable, in time for the
July Century.

@Gerry H. - we're off to Ottawa on Monday for a ceremony at the
War Museum on Tuesday, do you have any suggestions for
good/interesting restaurants downtown we could have dinner on
Monday night and lunch on Tuesday?

CANADIENS CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS-A Chess Game
The Canadiens started their pre-July first signing period with
around 28 million dollars in available cap space (assuming the
cap rises, as expected, to 62.35 million dollars). The signing
process is a chess game. Each contractual commitment impacts on
financial flexibility down the road. Like any chess master,
Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier can not operate in the
here-and-now but how each contract will impact his negotiations
four or five moves ahead.
So far, Gauthier has committed 6.2 million to sign RFA Andrei
Kosti-tsyn and UFA’s Hal Gill and Mathieu Darche. That puts
thirteen players under contract, including defenseman Alexei
Yemelin. At any given time, the NHL roster limit is twenty-three
but the Canadiens traditionally have carried twenty-two. . Nine
positions to fill, including three defensemen, five forwards and
a backup goaltender, and. twenty two million available cap space
dollars to get it done.

Graz,
Sorry! First time I've logged in since last week! Ottawa's
come a loooong way in that department over the past fifteen
years. I'd avoid the Bytown Market, with the exception of the
Black Tomato (on Sussex and York, I think), which is first rate
at mid-line prices. In my neck of the woods
(Westboro/Wellington Village, just West of Downtown), there is a
terrific little Thai place called the Siam Bistro that'd be
terrific for lunch (Wellington near Holland Ave). If you like
Southwestern, the Agave Grill just a few blocks further West on
Wellington is also pretty awesome. If Little Italy is your
thing, lunch or dinner at la Favorita is a good bet for very
nice pasta and outstanding pizza (Preston Street, just south of
the Queensway).
