       After years of complete climate change denial and political
       intransigence, renewable energy development is finally underway.

       $5 billion to help states build a network of electric vehicle
       charging stations.
       New York and California have announced that starting in 2035
       the sale of vehicles with internal combustion engines will be
       banned. Half of the car ads shown during this year's Superbowl
       advertised electric vehicles. It is estimated that, by 2030,
       this type of car will make up half of automotive sales in the
       United States . For our dependence on private transport to
       remain as it is today, everything else will have to change.
       There are already concerns about shortages of “critical
       minerals” needed for the manufacture of batteries and other
       renewable technologies.

       Based on current consumption patterns, for example, by 2050, US
       demand for lithium used in batteries would require three times
       the world's existing supply, which primarily comes from
       Australia, Latin America and China. Anticipating the increase in
       demand, a flurry of new mining operations has been launched
       around the world, and protests have also been activated by those
       who fear that mines will alter ecosystems, contaminate water
       sources, generate waste toxic and disrupt local ways of life.
