Purpose differing abilities resources

At the training on Saturday, April 27, Kyle from Life Teen
mentioned a book called Mosaic. I contacted LT and the book is
no longer in print and there are no copies available. However,
the Core Handbook he also mentioned has a section that gives
some good info. If you have a copy of this book, check pages
174-176. I will post an excerpt here in the next day or so. If
someone has a resource to suggest for working with youth that
have differing abilities, please post to the forum.

Here is the except I promised from the Core Handbook: "As core
members, it is important to create a welcoming and inclusive
environment for all teens, including those with disabilities.
By embracing diversity and creating an atmosphere of acceptance,
you can foster a stronger sense of community and help teens with
disabilities feel valued and supported." The next few pages go
on to give ideas and tips on just how to do that. The book is
worth the cost to your parish to use as a resource for many
topics related to our youth. They have discounts for multiple
book orders, too.

Thanks Mary, although I do not have any students at this grade
level with special needs, I do have at least one who is in
elementary school that will eventually need catechists who can
understand his needs. This book will prove helpful.
