Just talking (April Read)

After a couple days ago with Joe's incident that happened and
now being able to be on the road and travel with him and
knowing him as much and well as he does Jay sits at Joe's
brothers with his family stayin with them for a couple days as
well. He plays with Joe's nephews and even gets his
daughter to smile laughing a little bit. Joe walks in the
room and Jay looks at him a second as he looks at the time and
grabs his phone and keys.
Joe: What?
Jay: Cant goin out wait? You said you might catch up with the
boys and Kale yet you get dressed smooth to be with them and
barely take your wife out anymore
Joe: I did that the other night for awhile shes cool with that
we had some fun. Why whats it to you?
Jay: Nothing whatever i guess .. But i thought you would be more
to stayin with family these guys your wife and daughter
instead of goin and having boy time.
Joe: Listen .. I dont need permission from anyone to go see a
couple of my boys from the old days i havent seen for along
time. Ill be back later and trust me i dont need a speech
from you or anyone else so worry about you ill worry about me
got it.
He walks out and Jay watches him then looks at his brother
who rolls his eyes as well not happy with Joe at the moment.
Jay looks at their daughter then at April standing.
Jay: Can we talk a minute.
He waits and walks outside with her and stands looking away
stayin quiet a couple minutes before turning to her
Jay: Not a bad night tonight. Look the reason i brought you out
here is cause im not cutting in on you and Joe i dont want you
to take me wrong here. I respect the guy i respect you and what
you two have. But really are you the type of girl to let him
just go do what he wants when he wants? Hes got that little
girl now to think about are you really the type to let him just
go out with the guys whenever he wants and leave you at home
with the baby? I dont see that i see someone whos stronger
than that and i can tell your not really a fighter but
sometimes you gotta let it out and put him in his place April.
Hes a dad now its not like its just you and him and he can
just go and let you be at home. He has her to think of first as
well not the boys or friends to go party with.
He looks at her and turns more to her.
Jay: I aint starting anything between you two i mean me
personally i think you two are good as a team no doubt about
how you two feel for eachother easy to tell. But think about
it shes a week old and yet he goes to the boys to party and
leaves you to handle her. I can tell he gets to you with
that attitude. I aint sayin in anyway he dont love desiree
cause he would kill for that little girl and you thats well
known also. But how can you just sit and let him do that to
you and your daughter i dont get that. Your not a push over i
can see that yet your allowing him to do just that. You gotta
stand up to him and do something or say soomething cause he
aint gonna settle down or take this serious until you do. Thats
just Joe .. You two love eachother yes but you need to set
boundries in this now with her being here. If he cant deal
with them or respect them then why are you putting you girls
through his partying w ays. I mean i care about you guys i
really do. I dont know how may guy could pick party life over
that little girl or someone like you. I mean nothing to it
but if he chooses parties and drinking with the boys where
theres girls when he has a beautiful wife then theres
something wrong with that. I care and i dont wanna see
anything happen to you guys. But you need to stop being the
quiet one and put him in his place about life now with the
family. Dont worry about fighting with him you need to make it
clear April where you stand and where everything should be in
life tongiht proves that more than any time nows the time to
take that stand with him.

She looks at Jay.
April: I know what your saying. And no I didn't come along to be
left so will you do me a favor and find a way to get me and the
little one home. I am not going to sit here while he is out
partying. He wants to party... he can do it without us. Cause I
am not going on this trip with him for him to leave me in the
room or with family so he can do whatever he wants. He wants to
fight me about it... then fine... but I am not staying here.
She looks away.
April: I am not going to let him do it. This is the first time
and ONLY time he is going to do it. I told him before... he
chooses this crap over us... then I am leaving. I am not here to
be his eye candy. I am not here to be the babysitter to my own
child. I wanted to come along to spend time with him. I got one
night... and now this. And he didn't do much that one night
either.
She turns to him.
April: And no... I am not telling him I am going home. Make him
come back here to a empty house. Let him see what his life is
going to cost him. He said this is my choice? Well my choice is
not staying here with his family while he does whatever the hell
he wants. If I have too... I will go stay with my brother. Hell
Tyler or Chris would take us in. I know they would. He wants to
play games... Well GAME OVER!

He looks at her knowing there was a side that was easy going and
one that was kinda pushed back.
Jay: Thats my girl .. And no i didnt mean it that way.
He smiles
Jay: Im glad to hear your not gonna take it from him you dont
need to and especially with her now he should of got it
figured out. Sometimes
things need to be made as a reminder. But i know his brother
wouldnt care if you stayed around with her they enjoy seein
her im sure of that. I dont know what his problem is right
now the attitude hes got changes when certain ones get ahold
of him.
He looks away again.
Jay: If you really wanna go yeah i can get you a way back but
you dont have to leave cause of his ways right now. I can get
you a way wherever you wanna go i can help you out. You know
hes gonna be in a bad mood if you go and not tell him he is
gonna fight you and thats just Joe i guess. Where do you wanna
go i can get you there if you want to go to your brothers since
Chris has a place around here i can get you there if you want
or where do you wanna go?[/center]

She nods.
April: Yeah that would be fine. I know Chris will be behind me
in this. I don't want to lose Joe. I don't like having to make a
statement... but Jay... if I stay... he is going to think this
is ok with me. I don't mind being with his family... but man, he
should be here with us. Not doing this shit.
She looks down.
April: Let them see her for a little longer. It will give us
time to make sure Chris is home and for me to pack us up.
She looks at her ring.
April: For better or for worse. When will it get better? That is
what I want to know. When will it get better?

He looks down a second trying to think of something to say.
After a minute he puts a arm around her and gives her a hug
Jay: Its always a question in the beginning i know. Things
are rocky at the beginning of anything and when somethings new.
I promise you though when he realizes its not gonna be ok
with you hes gonna be a diffrent guy. I know you dont like
doing it but sometimes you have to and make him undertsand
where you stand as a person and that your daughter comes
first before even him if it needs to be that way.
He looks at her.
Jay: Its gonna be rough especially with him hes not that easy of
a guy to get along with or be with easy to tell ive seen it
before. But time will tell i know he aint gonna mess around
with anyone hes never been the type to do that ever i know that
for a fact. You just gotta make him understand in his own mind
what matters most to him the drinking partys and the old run
around crew or you and Desiree. I know what i would choose and
it aint what hes doing right now it would be my family. Chris
always stands behind you hes a family man so you know hes
gonna have your back. I know Joes family loves you i can
guarantee when he gets back his brothers gonna end up jumping
him. Do you want anything while we wait for Chris to get
ahold of you?[/center]

He looks at her
Jay: Hey thats why im here i would do the same for any close
friends. You guys are like a second family to me and i dont
wanna see something happen to you two. Your actually the only
one that can keep him on a straight path hes just testing the
lengths he can actually go til you have enough. Thats just Joe
hes a great guy and wouldnt hurt you in any way just he
pushes it sometimes like now.
He looks away himself a couple minutes and turns back to her.
Jay: You know i have your back in all of this. I respect him
and i dont take sides but i have your back because you deserve
better than what hes doing right now. I didnt know he was
gonna push it like this so quick unless hes trying to see
what he can get by with early on. He told me you was comin
ont he trip this time when he asked me to get you guys. He
lives for you girls i do know that i can tell by his eyes he
sees you both he changes real fast from bad day to better.
Just like when he gets a call when gone i never seen the guy
come alive as much as he does sitting in a corner when he
talks to you. No one knows what it took but you really changed
him in alot of ways and right now hes seeing what he can get
away with. Lets go get you that drink and see if that helps
you with anything.
He finally smiles again.[/center]

Just then she gets a message from Chris and she looks up at Jay.
April: That was Chris. He said he would be home in 20 mins. He
was buying the kids some clothing. He would be glad to have us
until Joe calms down.
She walks with Jay into the house. She walks over to Joe's
brother.
April: Thanks for letting us stay... and I am sorry for Joe. But
like I told Jay... I can't stay if he is going to act like this.
My brother isn't that far... so Desiree and I are going to stay
with him until Joe figures out what is more important.
She gives him a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
April: You are a awesome brother in law. I love you guys.
Jay brings her a water bottle... She takes it and then starts to
pack up her stuff and then looks at Jay as she takes her
daughter.
April: I am ready Jay.

Jay looks at Desiree and smiles getting her to as well and
he laughs taking her hands playing a second so she dont
start to cry.
Jay: Theres that smile your gonna break alot of boys
hearts arent ya sweetie. Dont worry better you doing it when
you get older than the boys cause your mom and dad will
protect you
He puts her hands down gently and smiles again looking
back at April.
Jay: I should be back in a little bit after dropping them off
so dont lock the door. I will be back soon .. If you really
wanna do this without telling him then thats your choice as
well but you know hes gonna get mad about it. I personally
dont blame you im just sayin you gotta do what you feel is
right, If your ready lets go.
He leaves with her and gets to Chris's place and sits waiting
for him to get there.
Jay: You just gotta trust in youself things will get better it
aint easy like i said and you know Joe pretty well by now
already. You know he aint like others he aint out with other
girls cause he dont play that game its been done to him he
wouldnt do it to you. You know he loves you and he knows you
love him its just your starting out rough you can make it
through. Your both fighters and dont give up. I have to say
though that little girl looks and acts like you alot more
every time i see her. She might end up closer to you than him
not cause of how he is but because shes just like you. She
loves her daddy to no doubt but she seems closer to you and
he knows it maybe thats whats in his mind hes afraid of
losing that bond with her being on the road alot and she wont
know him to well.
He goes quiet and kinda laughs lookin out the window.
Jay: You know its funny i remember when Joe told me hey Jay
you gotta meet the girl i got with me. I listened to him and
he went on and on how much he liked about you and how you
were diffrent and how he wanted a shot if possible to get to
happen. You had Joe before he even started asking you for a
chance or if anyone could do anything you had him hooked. That
guy really fell for you and i hope you two can work this
out like you do everything else already been through alot and
stuck together through fights his drinkin you got a beautiful
daughter together. Im pullin for you guys i really am not
just for the little one but for you guys to make it through
more than what some think you will or would and to prove even
through the ups and downs you beat what they said couldnt be
done i really think you two were brought together to prove
people wrong.
He looks at her
Jay: What you told me earlier. You said you had one night with
him and he didnt really do anything then either .. What do you
mean?[/center]

April: We sat in the room last night and watched movies. Didn't
talk... didn't do anything but watch movies. Well he did drink a
little. But when isn't he. It felt like a night at home doing
nothing.
She looks away.
April: I know he will be mad. And right now... I want him to
know how I feel. I want him to understand where I am coming
from. I will contact him... but I will contact him when I am
ready. I am not going to do it on his time. I am not going to
give him a inch right now. He has to know, he needs to know this
is not ok. You said that yourself. He needs to know... he has a
family and we are not going to play games. I am not going to put
her thru having a father that just runs off and gets drunk when
he wants. I am thinking about her. She deserves better than what
she got tonight. Me... I don't matter. This isn't about me. It
is about Desiree and her only.
