Deepika Padukone wishes audience love her as 'Leela'

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s newewst venture ‘Ram Leela’ is slated to
be released on 15th November and it is a critical film for the
leading lady Deepika Padukone. The actress has got some mega
hits recently with ‘Race 2’, ‘Cocktail’, ‘Yeh jawani hain
diwani’ and ‘Chennai express’. She had studied the female
characters in the previous Bhansali films carefully so that she
easily adapted to his style in the upcoming ‘Ram Leela’. "I
watched all of Sanjay’s films," Deepika said "Each of his
(female) characters has been so special and memorable." Bhansali
has given silver screen characters like Nandini in ‘Hum Dil De
Chuke Sanam’ played by Aishwariya, Paro and Chandramukhi in
‘Devdas’ played by Aishwariya and Madhuri Dixit respectively,
Rani Mukherjee in ‘Black’ and Monisha Koirala in ‘Khamoshi’.
Deepika has studied all these roles and has worked hard to make
her own place in the film.
A source close to the actress said, "She has always been
inspired by the way Sanjay portrays female characters. She was
impressed by Nandini’s (Aishwarya) character in Hum Dil... and
Paro and Chandramukhi’s characters (portrayed by Aishwarya and
Madhuri Dixit respectively) in Devdas (2002)." Deepika added,
"If you look closely, every (female) character has her own life
and journey; I hope my part is also as remembered and loved as
that of Nandini, Paro or Chandramukhi’s." The latest Garba song
released from ‘Ram Leela’ in fact shows a very close resemblance
to ‘Dhol baaje’ song from ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’. Deepika
seems to have consciously copied the steps and mannerisms of
       Aishwariya for this song.
With so many recent successes to her credit, has something
changed about the style and performance of Deepika? "There isn't
anything that I have changed consciously though. I have not
changed my approach towards work. I am still doing the kind of
films that excite me at a given point in time. I am still going
about my work the way I have done since ‘Om shanti om’. But yes,
I won't deny that something has indeed changed since ‘Cocktail’.
I can't pinpoint at anything specifically," said the actress.
"If I am shown as a girl who is drinking, it doesn't mean that I
don't have a heart or soul or I would be forever playing such
parts. The issue is that very rarely do people sit and
differentiate between an actor's real and reel life. On screen,
it is just some roles that I am playing. In both RAM-LEELA and
KOCHADAIIYAAN I would be seen in a 'desi' traditional avtar.
Tomorrow when I find myself in a western set up again, the
song-n-dance routine would be as per the requirement of that
       stage and setting," she said
