Ishita Dutta is quite happy with the progress of her Star Plus
show Ek Ghar Banaunga, produced by Village Boy Productions.
Says the actress, “We have had an interesting journey, with many
ups and downs for my character Poonam. Initially I found the
going tough as you have to devote 12 hours a day, add to that
the two hours of Mumbai traffic. Also what make matters worse is
the rona dhona and the emotional instrument which daily shows
employ. But now I have finally got into the groove. I fully
understand what makes my character click. I instinctively know
how Poonam will react to a given situation. Here I must add that
having a good set of co–actors makes things easier. ”
She goes on to add, “Just how much I am into my character can be
judged by the fact that many a times when somebody at the set
calls me by my real name, I don’t even react. We all are also
quite similar in our approach to life, sensible and ready to
       talk things out.”
Ask her about the public feedback, and the sister of Bollywood
starlet, Tanushree Dutta says, “It is good, many people come up
and praise my work. I take whatever criticism comes my way in a
positive way, as it will help me better my craft.”
Her mother is an ardent follower of Ek Ghar Banaunga. “She makes
it a point to check out the repeats. I am sure she is more
concerned about my character, than the story. Even my relatives
all over Bengal also regularly tune in and give me consistent
       feedback.”
Ishita feels that, “One of the best things of being a part of
the Star Plus family is that we get a chance to be more
realistic. As part of their new philosophy Rishta Wahi Soch
Nayee, our characters are shown to be standing up to challenges,
but yet remaining rooted to Indian culture. We will not wear
saris, but rather adorn salwar kameezes. We can’t be shown
completely going down the western road either.”
Remind her that the 6.30 pm time slot might be a dampener as far
as numbers go and she says, “On the contrary, we take it as a
challenge. At the moment we are clocking around 1.7 TVR which is
the highest for the slot. After putting in hard work of around 6
months we are finally beginning to make an impact.”
Wish you all the luck, Ishita!!!
