Beshram first 5 day collection is 47 cr

Ranbir Kapoor has been having a great
year so far. With Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
       matching the collections of Bollywood’s
       biggest superstars’ records, Besharam too
began its first day on a brilliant note. The
first day domestic collections has settled
in the range of 20.50 crores at the Box
       Office.
With the widest release ever recorded by
a Bollywood film, the release cashed on
well the perks of releasing on a national
holiday. Being a non festive holiday, the
       film’s occupancy was above 90%-95%
       mostly.
Today, being a working day, the
collections will see a heavy drop. An
overtly heavy negative word of the mouth
is prevailing for the movie, which might
deter the film’s expected growth at the
box office. Though most critics have
slammed the film, it can be agreed that it
is a passable entertainer which has
released at a wicked time, with no huge
releases in the vicinity. Ranbir’s fan
following will help the film’s collections to
swell but mostly it won’t record the
ground shattering box office moolah that
       was expected from it.

Besharam witnessed the expected drop at
the box office on its second day. The film
that according to official figures earned
21.56 crores at the domestic box office
on Day 1 saw a sharp drop on Thursday.
Releasing on a national holiday, the film
made a hefty earning on its opening day!
       However, yesterday being a normal
working day saw the film’s collections
resting in the range of 7 crores , as per
early estimates! So far, the film has
approximately gathered a total sum of
28.56 crores at the domestic box office.
The film saw competition from the three
week old release Grand Masti which
suddenly saw a slight pick up in the single
       screens yesterday. However, Besharam
did impeccably well in a few key circuits
like Punjab, U.P, Rajasthan and Delhi
where it managed to spark off a
       phenomenal response. Trade insiders
suggest that the film lost a bunch of its
single screens to other films as it was
received with a rather lukewarm and
       disappointing response!

Worst fears came true for Besharam on
it’s release last week. Given the kind of
wide release and a holiday arrival that
Besharam was enjoying, it should have
ideally crossed the 25 crore mark on the
opening day and then consolidated its
       position. However cracks started widening
on 2nd October itself when the Ranbir
Kapoor starrer just about managed to
cross the 20 crore mark. However
disaster struck the film in days to follow
when it saw a massive decline for itself.
So much so that after a steep fall on
Thursday and Friday, there was not much
respite on Saturday and Sunday either,
hence resulting in a total downfall
As a result, the film couldn’t even cross
the 50 crore mark despite three holidays
in its first five days and could score only
around 48 crores. The Abhinav Kashyap
directed affair could well have taken
advantage of such huge window open for
itself, more so since it was the solo
release of the week with no competition
before it. However there isn’t much for
the film to play here even though there is
one more week which is open for it in
days to come. A major disappointment
indeed because with a 14 day availability,
sky was the limit for Besharam to not just
comfortably cross the 100 crore mark but
       go beyond.
However, the film was given a royal
ignore by the audience after it’s opening
day itself, and all due to it’s poor content
       and equally uninspiring execution.
Though the makers believe that their
product has been sabotaged, the fact
remains that the film did take an opening
after all on its first day and after that it
was audience that pulled the film down,
       and no one else.
