Good Morning! Actually, more & more of the snowbirds are
becoming year round residents, especially the newer retirees. A
lot of them don't want to keep up 2 homes anymore, so they've
sold their northern home & just go back to visit. Some have
sold to their kids & go back and stay for a couple of months
during the worst of the heat down here. They all say they'd
rather be out here in the drier heat than in the humidity.
That's why our office so busy now. Just 5 years ago when I
started there May was quiet. We haven't slowed down a whole lot
yet. We probably have 60% who stay now. A lot of the younger
ones also have jobs down here. They've retired from their jobs
they were at for 20 or 30 years, they came down here & found
something else to do. Some of the women were nurses and have
gone back to work here, some have part time office jobs. So
many hospitals & medical facilities they can find a job
anywhere. The guys work at Home Depot or the hardware stores or
some of the hardwood places. It's evolving into a whole
different industry, some 55+ areas more so than others. When I
was at The Resort we were already at this stage. Sunland has
just started seeing the new trend in the last few years. That's
the reason we've spent 1/2 a million in the last couple of years
in improvements & are putting up a 1.1 million dollar fitness
center now. The younger retirees and the year rounders need
better facilities and amenities.

Good morning. Thursday FINALLY! Steve is done bowling til
Sept. Really going to screw me up knowing what day it is. lol
We normally go get groceries on Thursday night. We went last
night, since he wasn't bowling. Now it feels like this is
Friday.

Good morning. Wonder if the Cubs will get any games in today.
JD said rain was in the forecast until 2023. lol Not wanting
them to have to play too many games late in the season. Going
to need their off days in case there is a post season. No plans
today. Laundry, cleaning, cooking, play date with Weston
tonight. :-)
