       Stacking Bones Session 2
By: blackpluribus Date: February 3, 2019, 10:09 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Ethan had begun the second day of his Skeletal lessons. Ethan
had requested a series of bones for testing his necromancy
skills which had been granted by the board. Adventures often had
to collect trophies to prove their bounties. In return the
guild’s vaults have build up quite the score of skulls from
varies creatures and bandits for the last few weeks. Making the
request from Ethan rather easy to settle up.
After collecting the groups of skulls Ethan began to write black
symbols into the ground to create a summoning circle. This isn’t
required to perform his skills, but it does help for newcomers
to necromancy. So, following the rules of his spellbook he
quickly copied down the runes inscribed to him placing a skull
at the center. It was shaped as a half human half deer looking
creature. Ethan began to chant at the skull some demonic text
before the bones began to take life. Slowly the bones trembled
on the ground. The bones after short period of time would begin
to tap louder as they tried to form a human creature but failed
causing the bones to splinter and fall to pieces.
Time and time again Ethan would try with different skull
structures trying to recreate the animation process. Each time
different events would unfold from bonds changing shapes and
size to them shattering and exploding. The results were always
the same. The creatures would fall apart in a fashion towards
the end resulting in a failure of an experiment.
However, Ethan didn’t give up hope. This was a new experience
for him, but the bones didn’t reek like the cadavers from the
other day. Making this a more enjoyable extension of his
training. With more time and focus on his concentration he would
try another fifty times to meet the same fate again and again
and again until finally something happened. A small creature
began to form in the center which extended one hand forth before
       falling apart once again.
Notes form his research were that the more human the skull was
that was used resulted in the more likely the bones would create
a new being. That was to say that there was something linked to
the human body or soul that made a stronger bond than creatures.
Could they have been abominations? Ethan wasn’t sure but the
more attempts in the future would prove useful for today he was
       out of time.
