Magic of Other Races: Day 1
By: Mile Date: January 26, 2019, 5:24 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Mile takes a seat at the front of the classroom. The room was
sparsely filled, with a number of non-human races populating it.
Beside her sat a reptilian creature of some sort. On her
opposite side, an elf was seated, fidgeting in his seat as if he
was already ready to leave. Mile, on the other hand, was
incredibly excited. After enrolling at Elsend Acadmy, she had
been disappointed to find out that she wasn’t compatible with a
grimoire, despite appearing to be human. She chalked it up to
her brush with a diety, figuring that the encounter had altered
her into something different from a human, if not better. Her
capabilities were certainly elevated by comparison. She was
hoping to find some kind of answers in the ‘Magic of Other
       Races’ class.
Before Mile could find herself too deeply lost in her thoughts,
the instructor enters the room. She was a severe-looking Human
woman, with a crooked nose and squinty eyes that suggested she
was perpetually up to no good. Her lips were locked firmly in a
scowl. Contrary to her frightening appearance, her voice was
       warm and soothing.
“Hello class. My name is Instructor Pelligrin. I’d like to
start the class by splitting you into two groups. One group is
for those who are aware of their pedigree. I’d like you all to
gather on the left side of the room. The others are for those
with no links to their parents or confusion about their race.
You move to the right side.”
Most of the students shuffle, slither, or hover over to the
left side. The handful remaining, including Mile, move to the
right. Once everyone was settled in their new positions, the
instructor begins handing out small booklets to the groups on
the left. Once she was finished, she returns to her desk,
fetching a few large, hard-cover books. She drops one on the
desks of each of the students on the right side.
“These are racial encyclopedias. Your assignment today is to
look through these until you find a description that closely
matches traits that you exhibit. I’d like you to pick out at
least three, then we’ll explore your choices together in the
       next class.”
She turns to the left side once again.
“As for you, those pamphlets will explain all of the known
abilities of your particular races.Study them thoroughly and
bring any questions you have to me.”
She takes a seat back at her desk, pulling out a book of her
own and allowing the students to get to work.
