Other Stories

I have gotten a few requests to hear certain events that have
happened in Snipers' history in greater detail, so I will use
this topic to shed some light on a few things that have
happened, as well as to answer any questions you may have about
anything. So if you have any questions, feel free to post them
here.
I'll post a few interesting stories that have happened in the
coming days.

That is a good question.
I would say there were many reasons for those people leaving,
and the reasons varied for each one. When Gem started to kill
TFT East, the playerbase had already declined significantly.
What he did was simply speed the process. At the start of Gem's
rampage, TFT East was much more popular than any other server
and bots were not mainstream, so there would have been no easy
way to inhouse (considering the clans did not exactly like each
other's company, but ironically liked the challenge of facing
one another) without a WC3 Banlist to tell who the bad apples
were via IP address. People mostly did stay when their clans
were killed the first time. They stayed because they wanted
revenge, or because they liked the thrill of the drama Gem
created by it all. But when they remade clans or joined other
ones and they were also killed, people eventually grew tired of
having their clans constantly infiltrated and disbanded, so they
left.
As far as playing without hackers: this is virtually impossible
today, so back then it truly was impossible. Since a staggering
amount of the playerbase hacked during that time, they only felt
comfortable calling each other out on it if the hacking was
blatant. Think of it like all hackers were criminals. If you got
caught, they would all gang up on you to make themselves look
innocent. To them, hacking was simply the standard, and it was
overlooked by those who knew who hacked because those people
hacked themselves. And some people did move to other servers,
which is why RoC East became more popular as time passed, which
stalled the previous decline it had been suffering for a short
time.
I hope that answers your question in full.

Who created the starcraft map?
And how close did the first snipers map resemble the one today.

Haha I have no clue who created the first SC map. Probably
someone who came from WC2, or a creative person who thought 12
ghosts running around would be fun. As I said, the middle of our
map today resembled the middle of the StarCraft map almost
exactly, except for the fact that it was much larger
proportionally. In other words, about 75% of their map was what
we would consider the middle of our map today. So if you can
imagine a really "big" version of mid, that was pretty much the
SC map. The other part of the StarCraft map was the spawn and
not much else. Since there were no items, there were no shops.

What realms did you play on, and was it RoC or TFT?

Well as I said in the history, when RoC came out almost everyone
started out on West. Eventually more and more people started
going to East, and I was one of those people that migrated. So
me personally: I started West, went East and played both servers
after about a year or so. I continued to play both until TFT
came out, and I played RoC West less and less as time passed,
replacing it with TFT East. I hardly ever played TFT West. It
was about that time where I started to play on Europe more
regularly. I played RoC East, TFT East, and RoC Europe until TFT
East died about 6 years later. Obviously I still play RoC East
and Europe. Back when Snipers was extremely popular I played a
few games on Asia, but I could never communicate with them so I
quit trying.
