I'm just glad that people are keeping the game alive and
remembering those who came before. I always made fun of Jason
for trying to save the game and now I realize I should have
helped more. I became pretty inactive and lost hope after Baal
went to fps games.

On the side note. I need to get something off my chest....
My brother was the Shaman responsible for killing DS. :/
Also agree with the collapse of snipers.
clan killing - no brainer. Many great clans fell and people quit
because of it.
game evolution - Spawn killing and pend/bc really made new
players not want to play again. The gap between the average or
new player and the pro's became too great.
competition - Players were so competitive that they made it
impossible to recruit new players. The game was Elite Snipers,
not Snipers.
hacking - anybody good was considered a hacker, especially
newcomers or smurfs.
new games/life goes on - Fuck World of Warcraft
Deep down I know that I, along with many others were responsible
for the pinnacle of snipers, but also its decline. We all became
a tight niche of pro's and competitors. Unfortunately not many
of use became great mentors for the next generation. We bashed
noobs and anybody who wasnt on our level or "as old of a sniper"
as us and we really didn't contribute to its growth.
I am going to try to log on and see if anyone is on!

Wow, this has been a while.
Anyway, cool to see that the Snipers community is still
alive...albeit by a thread.
Cool description of the history, although like you said that's
based on your experience and perception...which is valid enough
:)
Gem, most influential, though? He was a speck at the end, in my
opinion, who most players didn't even bother to know. But your
description of him, otherwise, was pretty spot on. I feel like
(although older players), people like Newb, Ark-, Rale, Gosus
(Even though he was found hacking), Bovine, Moose and even
myself (Replaced/FoolsPimp) were far more influential than Gem
during that era. We actually taught people about the game during
that time. Gem just tried to convince his buddies to hack
alongside him, while still losing to our older but stronger
clans during clan wars.
All in all though, awesome story! Was great to read up on what
was honestly a HUGE part of my life. Very cool!
