       TW. Childhood sexual abuse.
       By: ThinWishes3 Date: July 19, 2017, 7:59 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
When I was 6 I was taken advantage of by a family friend.
While I won't go into super details it wasn't rape, there wasn't
penetration, but fingers put where they shouldn't have been, and
I woke up w him inside of me.
He made me promise not to tell and I didn't. And I hate myself
       for it.
As I got older and told therapists they made me think this could
have a lot to do w who I am as a person. Does anyone else have
any trauma as a child that they believe contributed to their
       issues today?

       TW
I was molested multiple times by an uncle as a child. I've
blocked most of the memory out but as I'm getting older things
are starting to come back. I have faint memories and even slight
flashbacks of things he did to me. I'm currently in therapy
trying to work through it since it's taking over my life and my
ed has gotten worse because of it.
Also in 8th grade I was sexually assaulted by a boy on the bus,
and junior year of HS I was sexually assaulted in a car by a
       senior boy.
I believe my ED is 75% due to the fact that I was sexually
       abused.

       TW
I also had an issue in HS w someone who was 24 at the time I
don't wanna call it rape but kinda felt like it.
Most recently this past summer I had another weird experience w
       a guy friend.
I'm happy you're talking about them in therapy
[member=20]relapsequietly[/member] I'm just unable to do so but
I do think the episode when I was really young has at least
something to do w all of this

It's totally okay if you never talk about it, but if there ever
comes a time where it starts to affect your life in extreme
ways, I'd try to make an effort to talk about it. It will ruin
your life otherwise. However if you're doing okay with it now,
don't worry about therapy for it. Though therapy is EXTREMELY
difficult and brings up a lot of unwanted feelings and memories
and flashbacks I'm somehow getting validation for it.

I told 3/4 of my therapists about it- my most recent doesn't
       know!
One tried doing EMDR w me but I felt like it was all BS. The
middle one like pried it out of me and was super aggressive
about always bringing it up. My last one randomly asked me one
day if it ever happened but we never got into details- I think
she called my previous one and got that info because who asks
       that??
I don't rly think about it but I think it might have left some
effects although growing up I dealt w a lot of mental abuse too
       so who even knows.
Either way, I'm happy you're talking about it if you're finding
       it helpful!
I think my new therapist should know about it to paint a bigger
picture buuuut idk how necessary it is

If you're in therapy for your ED I'd say talk about it, a huge
majority of ED's develop because of sexual abuse. My therapist
apparently always knew/had a feeling even though I never told
anyone but waited for me to confirm it.

Yeah I am, I probably should tell her I just don't know how to
       just say that!

It's definitely not easy but if you can somehow get it out,
       you'll feel so much better!

When I was 6 I was serially assaulted at a park. I had left the
house just after dinner because mom was yelling at dad. And
things always got really bad then. So I left. And while I was
sitting a swing a man came up and asked why I was crying. Anyway
without going into too much detail. I told my parents what had
happened when they found me at the park. And they immediately
shut me down. And kept asking why I was so stupid to have gone
out after dark. And why I would talk to a strange man. And yes
it's affected who I am today. Mpd was directly effected by this.

I'm so sorry your parents did that to you! Going through
something traumatic is terrible on its own. Not having the
people who are supposed to protect you believe or off to help
       you, makes that even worse.
What is mpd if you don't mind me asking
