       Empire State Trail System - August 2021 Final Report

       For those who think that the NYS Canal Corporation operates and
       manages the Empire Trail along side of the Canal system, that
       work is now being done by a new group in New York State The
       Hudson Greenway Commission. The NYS Canal Corporation still
       maintains the vegetation along many canal trail sections, part
       of the "shared responsibilities" that many NYS Agencies have
       adopted as cost-cutting measures.

       Numbers for the EMPIRE TRAIL, which the Erie Canal Trail is part
