       It's a rather old article, but the thoughts expressed by Mayor
       Johnson in 2002, still ring true today.
       Sadly, Pittsford is the epitome of why Village Government is so
       wasteful, but if the "rich" want to have "their own people" in
       place to make laws for themselves, and they don't mind paying
       for it, who should complain.
       Well maybe the "not so rich" people in Pittsford?

       Having "extra government" is expensive... in many case the cost
       for a Village to operate a couple square miles of real estate is
       as much or more than the surrounding Town. And for what? It's
       not services that cost, it paychecks, pensions, and health care
       for this group of people that the Village employs.
       And it's like a "family" as just about everyone WORKING WITHIN A
       VILLAGE in MONROE COUNTY is somehow RELATED to the other
       workers. So things like nepotism go unchecked, and the Mayor,
       well they have "supreme power" and make all the rules.
       The TRUTH is that ANY MAYOR in New York State can suggest that
       their Village Government chooses to dissolve, and close for
       good.
       That move could save taxpayers money, stop the duplication of
       services, and also FOLLOW the NYS Legislature Laws that said...
       NY Village Government is wasteful, unnecessary, and should be
       eliminated for the benefit of ALL of New York State.
