NYS Canal Corporation PSA becomes a NEW Empire Trail Sign for
Harried Canal Neighbors

This message was posted sometime ago, but interestingly this
Public Service Announcement made by the Canal Corporation has
now become a new piece of signage along the Empire State Trail
System.
It appears these signs will be located where the Erie Canal
Embankment Remediation has occurred, near adjacent
neighborhoods, where one of the unforeseen consequences of Dam
Safety left canal neighbors vulnerable to trespassers and not
feeling at all "safe", even with grass covered earthen dams.

Seems like more than one Erie Canal Neighbor is complaining, and
signs like these are hopefully going to serve the purpose of
keeping Empire State Trail Users on Canal Public Property, and
not wandering through adjacent Erie Canal Neighbors private
lands.
Of course there could also be an additional MESSAGE added to
that Empire Trail Signpost... including the RULES for TRAIL USE
and also the HOURS of OPERATION...
The highlighted RULES should be printed in BOLD & RED on the new
signage
And hopefully the Dawn to Dusk message will get out, so that
Canal Neighbors don't have to worry over roving Trail Users at
all hours of the Night.
