Has Brockport's Village Government been compromised?

It's just a question, and one that many Brockport Village
Taxpayers should be asking themselves when they look at where
Village dollars & resources are going. Why you ask? Because the
Covid Crisis of 2019 will quickly become the Brockport Village
Budget Crisis of 2021.
The Village of Brockport WILL most likely run out of money
(without some NY State Aid) and Brockport Village residents will
be asked to help support their Village Leader's JOBS with more
taxes. This extra tax will support the "extra" local government
that the Town of Sweden has to endure because of the strangle
hold that Revitalize Brockport has on the Village of Brockport.
Yes... Revitalize Brockport is a POLITICAL group made up of your
elected Village Officials who are shameless in their goal to
keep TAXPAYERS under the THUMB of redundant & outdated local
Village Government.

And that's not the only website being run to help support
continuing local Village Government with help from Brockport
village employees... here's another called Pro-Brockport, that
is linked at the hip with the actual Village of Brockport
website

Who do I bring this up? Well just to show you where your tax
dollars are going... people, that are PAID by Village Taxpayers,
are using their time to maintain websites that are dedicated to
one goal... perpetuating the taxpayer funded local government
called the Village of Brockport. Go and see how many websites
these folks have put into place to tell you how important
Brockport Village Government is to our community.

Please keep in mind that the Town of Sweden website ALREADY
EXISTS and is supported by NEW York State as a necessary
government for all of us. We ALREADY pay people to run these two
websites, how many do we need? More importantly, how much time
AND money is being wasted having all this redundant work?

Most of what you see started when an ex-SUNY Brockport College
employee decided to run for Mayor of Brockport. Though some may
say that's OK we ALL should understand that this could be
treading very closely to a "conflict of interest", especially if
that Mayor were to start providing preferential treatment to
that particular college that occupied more than half of the
Village Land.
[attachimg=3]
So what's happened since this SUNY Professor took over
Brockport? Maybe the village residents should answer that
question themselves, based on recent Brockport happenings? From
what most see there does seem to be some credence to the
statement made in the title of this posting... compromised
government.
Seems the Mayor is quite happy in the limelight... she's even
done a video about the need to support small government in New
York State. It's a public service announcement. This pleading by
the mayor and video message is mainly due to the facts that New
York State lawmakers are DOWNSIZING small village governments
like Brockport, and pulling more and more funding to Mayors
which will place more and more burden on taxpayers to keep
village solvent.
The end result, TAXES will go up for taxpayers who support these
outdated small governments in villages across the state, and
that will hopefully drive village consolidations &
dissolutions... taxpayers will only take mayors picking their
pockets for so long.

But her OWN remarks in this local magazine show that she has a
"strong preference" to serve the SUNY College first and
foremost, even recognizing that the rest of the Village may not
share the view she has of the "value" of having a College in
town.

I would suggest that all Brockport residents read this
article...

So what has the SUNY Mayor done for Brockport Villagers? She has
improved the College Property with a new Rowing Dock. There were
some strings attached for the College to lease property from the
Village (for $1), and also start a "rowing club". But the fact
is that NYS Canal Funding was used, and matching Village funds
as well, to obtain the grant for this work... and it all went to
COLLEGE PROPERTY.

And the Mayor is also getting some Reimagine the Canals projects
moved to Brockport, once again to benefit the College at SUNY
Brockport, as these posts from the Brockport Village website
show. Seems once again the money rolls to SUNY here in
Brockport, all compliments of Mayor Blackman

The relationship between the Village Government and the Town
Government here in Brockport/Sweden can be described as
"strained" at best.
Maybe it's because the Village has now lost it's purpose, other
than to allow a Mayor to serve her ex-employer anything they
desire at the rest of the village's expense. Having a Mayor, who
has already stated that she places a higher value on residents
that are employers, is now dealing directly with SUNY, a leading
employer in the Village. That hasn't worked out that well for
the rest of the village taxpayers who are still wondering why
Brockport needed a rowing dock
Maybe it's because the Town is handcuffed to fix a problem that
HALF of it's residents located in the Village can eliminate with
a vote. Village dissolution isn't about destroying anything,
it's about right-sizing local government for the people being
served. Village officials will tell you it will all go away,
when the truth is that the ONLY thing that will go away for
sure...is their salaries as elected leaders.
[color=blue]The rest of what happens to Village resources, OUR
resources, will be shown in the Village Reorganization Plan that
Village Official, including the Mayor are deathly afraid to see
and fighting tooth and nail to prevent from being created.
Is it time for your voice to be heard?
