       Most Taxpayers Seem Clueless to Local Government Costs

       Read the title of this post again please.
       It's both a statement and a sad testament to the truth about New
       York State Taxes and the issue with TOO MUCH New York State
       Government...those two go hand in hand.
       And most people do not know that the NY State Comptroller is
       working on behalf of the PEOPLE to shed some light through
       Government Transparency on the issue of the high cost of local
       government.
       There is a website devoted to looking at local government by
       making them an "open book" to the Taxpayers they are supposed to
       serve.

       You can find anything here, but you have to be good with numbers
       and reports.

       You can Run a REPORT by setting parameters for what you need to
       know...or do a Multi-Year Comparison

       Now once you open the report for multi-year view of Village
       Finances you simply look the section with the LARGEST numbers..
       it will show the "balanced" Village Budget that by NY Law has to
       have Expenses = Revenue for each fiscal year. Revenue and
       Expenses are shown below for Brockport, Budget Expenses are also
       called Appropriations and Other Expenses.

       You might think the math that has been applied is biased, it is
       not. Here's a point of view of Fairport, which is smaller in
       size and population than Brockport, but has a 15% higher
       operating expense.

       As long as Village Taxpayers sit by, while their Leaders
       increase the Operating Budget, the horrible cycle of redundant &
       expensive local NY Government will never be broken. It's time to
       get off our asses and fix a problem that State Lawmakers said
       should have been done long ago.
