We are relatively new to the Central Finger Lakes area as some
may know. Finding the necessary resources for services needed
has been a little bit of a chore. The city of Auburn had plenty
of selections for medical, dental & banking but when we started
to look for HOME IMPROVEMENT companies the selection close by
was limited. We asked around and found a few choices in outlying
locations, of course getting those companies to come and look at
our "deck project" was another challenge altogether.
We did find about 4 companies to quote our 600 square foot deck
addition, and one in particular stood out above all the rest...
that was Delmar's Home Improvement. Located in Clyde, New York
Delmar Hoover is one of the many Mennonites in the area who
specializes in home improvements, having worked several years
for a well-known local contractor. He decided to start his own
company and has been busy the last couple years building
solutions for local residents as well as his reputation for fair
pricing & expert home improvement. We had several other firms
that either refused to quote our project, or simply never showed
up to talk with us.

Delmar answered our calls & texts immediately, and had a Deck
Quote back to us within a few days. His bid was easily 20% lower
than the next bid, and we had one bid that was 4X the amount he
was asking for. His lead time may be a little longer than some,
as he is a "one-man crew" right now, but we will tell you, the
wait is worth it. His work ethic is impeccable, and his
knowledge in Carpentry & General Home Repair is extensive for
someone his age, most likely a result of his upbringing & past
experience. He is a resource that the local Mennonite & Amish
community in and around Cayuga County rely on.
We suggest you look at his YouTube channel videos, he has
recently added a few time-lapsed videos of his work, ours will
be added soon. They are amazing to say the least. We have added
several "before & after" pictures here, along with some drone
images that Delmar shared with us. He makes sure to document all
of his projects both to share with the public and to learn from
as he improves his craft.
