NYS Canal waters will be 1-2 Feet Lower due to
       "seeping" earthen embankments in 2026

And the second Notice to Mariners (NTM) this season is about
expected water levels once again lower by a foot in most places
with earthen embankments and up to 2' lower on the Champlain
canal. Same as 2025. 2024, 2023... ever since work on the Canal
Earthen Embankment Integrity Program stopped performing all dam
       remediation work
       [attachimg=1]
That pesky Erie Canal Embankment issue is now closing in on 8
years since the initial clearing of 25 miles of Earthen Dam
repairs on the western end of the Canal System. Once again, its
a safety issue for Erie Canal Neighbors that goes 8 years since
being identified as a "risk of property & life" if any of the
100 miles of unrepaired dams has a breach. And in those 8 years
       its a statistical certainty that:
       A) The earthen embankments have not gotten better by themselves
and the "risk factor" for flooding has increased.
       B) The probability of an earthen embankment breach happening has
increased with additional time of zero mitigation to repair the
       seeping embankments.
One thing is for certain, when an embankment DOES give way,
causing any significant damage to the environment or ANY loss of
life, NYS Canal & Power Authority will simply say "We told you
so", and finally tell the public they couldnt perform the work
because "Facebook" opposed the Dam Remediation project.
Probably wont make the grieving families feel any better.
