       NY Canal Corporation releases High Water Notice to Mariners

       So after weeks of "monitoring" rising waters in the NYS Canal
       System, doing very little to alleviate flood conditions, the
       Canal Corporation is now stating the Canal System is "unsafe"
       for use, stating they are "concerned" about damage to
       neighboring properties. As if those words help the hundreds of
       flooded properties that NY State has already caused for those
       same canalside home owners.

       While some may say "better late than never" as a homeowner of a
       riverside flooded property my feelings are not so forgiving...
       This flooding could have been avoided if the Canal Corporation &
       parent NY Power Authority actually worked to FIX the problems
       they have created instead of just "watching" it all happen. They
       know what the problem is, and they understand they need MORE
       outlets for water to flow to Lake Ontario, but as of today, the
       Canal Corporation cannot figure out that building a new "water
       release" point in the Canal System will remedy their Three
       Rivers issue.
       Build a new canal to empty excess water into tributaries that
       flow north to Lake Ontario BEFORE it gets to the Oswego River
       pinch point... seems simple enough for a group that is supposed
       to understand Hydrological issues, doesn't it?
