       NYS Canal Authority announces 2026 Navigation Season

       First NYS Canal Corporation Notice to Mariners (NTM)
       announcement of 2026, opening & closing dates.
       Once again, New York State has stated that the Erie Canal System
       will be open for just under 5 months in 2026 for navigation.
       This marks a return to the norm of being closed, more than open
       for the waterway, with about a month on either end of navigation
       season used for watering & dewatering, along with safety
       assessments of the Canal System. You can read the announcement
