Erie Canal Trail Traffic Affected by Roadway Work in Perinton

       ---------------------------------------------------------
With the 2018 formation of the Facebook Group known as the Stop
the Canal Clear-cut (STCC) it appears that Fairport & Perinton
have quickly become the epicenter for misinformation &
"conspiracy theories" about any & all Erie Canal Maintenance
Work, including tree removal or trail repairs.
So, let's try to get ahead of that nonsense right away in 2025
Found this notification on the Empire Trail Alert webpage, and
it pertains to the EST Trail section running through the Town of
Perinton. There is a TWO YEAR project to fix a highway bridge
that crosses the Canal Path that will affect pedestrian traffic
       on the trail below.

To the residents of Perinton... please do NOT protest this work
To the members of the STCC... if you must.. go hug the bridge
and see if you can stop the much needed work there. We know it's
not about "trees", but it seems that doesn't matter anymore.
Your group protests any & all work that affects Ms Agte's daily
walk now, and there will be flaggers limiting trail traffic when
needed for public safety reasons, even if you don't agree.
And everyone using the Empire State Trail in this area, PLEASE
give these workers a break, follow their instructions and try to
resist getting upset because they stopped your walk or bike ride
       for 30 seconds.
Just like highway work anywhere else.. "Give them a Brake".
Thank you, this has been a Public Safety Notice from the Erie
Canal Neighbors Association, we thank you for your support.
