       Earthen Embankment Repair Status - Rt 260 Sweden Walker Rd

       Took the opportunity to snap this photo of a very large
       Embankment Repair being made a few miles east of Brockport. What
       made this one unique is the vantage point to photograph the
       work. If you take a look you will see the repair crew placing
       material in the newly excavated stump holes, and to the right
       the area that is some 30' below the Erie Canal Trail.

       If this doesn't resolve the question of what this project is all
       about, fixing Earthen Embankment Dams, then I guess nothing
       will.
       And for those who think this is NOT a Safety Project at it's
       core, I have also included a Google Earth view of that same area
       showing the Flood Hazard Zone that lies to the North of the
       repairs being made at this location. There are several
       residences, a trailer park, and a number of businesses that most
       likely are unaware they are living below an Unsafe Dam. The area
       shown is the area that would be "lost" if a Dam breach occurred
       at this location. I did not include the hundreds of homes that
       are situated North of Rt 104 Ridge Rd that would be lost in the
       event of an Embankment Failure.

       As you can see from the size of this repaired area, the idea
       that the Erie Canal Embankments "aren't broken" is simply
       foolish..they WERE in this area and NOW they are once again
       RESTORED to the condition that is deemed SAFE.
       Shouldn't be that difficult to grasp this concept... but does
       REQUIRE and "open mind"
